    Hi Chris

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47UE9hSnFNo&t=532s&ab_channel=OpenTuition

In the above video under Example 2, you’ve said that under 2006, the car manufacturing operation IS held for sale. Can you possibly explain why that is? I only ask as it doesn’t mention anything about selling the operation in the question. Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    James

    Hi,

Yes, so in 2006 the decision was taken to close down the car operation so it will be a discontinued operation.

    Thanks

    Hi Chris

OK, thanks for that. I am still a bit confused about this. So closing down a operation = held for sale in every instance? Thank you.

    Hi,

Yes, in the year in which the decision was made.

    Thanks

    Hi Chris,

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47UE9hSnFNo&t=532s&ab_channel=OpenTuition

In the above video under Example 3, the decision to run down the material business was made in 2017. Why then do we restate the 2016 figures to reflect this decision, even though the segment was discontinued in 2017?

    Kind regards

    Gabby
