The following costs relate to management accounting information for Kite Co for April 20X8:
Cost $
Employee time spent filling in purchase requisitions 600
Use of barcodes and scanners to record inventory 200
Storage of sales information no longer needed 400
Time taken by staff to input data into production
system
900
What were the total direct data capture costs for Kite Co for April 20X8?Now the answer says 200
But why not employee filling of 600 and last one 900 not taken into account Sir ?
August 1, 2020 at 10:00 am #578899Because they are not direct data capture.
Direct data capture is where data is input automatically into the computer system rather that someone having to type it in.
Have you not watched my free lectures on this? The lectures are a complete free course for Paper PM and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.
May 28, 2025 at 10:04 am #717510Sir , this question is in Kaplan kit of FMA
And below is section of study hubDirect Data Capture Costs
Direct data capture costs are the costs of getting the data into the system. Examples include:Use of and processing of data forms, either manually entered into a system, digitalised forms with pre-set fields, or automated through optical character recognition (OCR).
Use of machine-readable bar codes, QR codes, or RFID tags.
Artificial intelligence (AI) or algorithmic processing and codifying (adding associated tags) of non-standardised data captures, such as faces or physical items.
Other machines, workforce, and systems for large-scale data capture, such as measuring devices and associated systems, laboratory work , sensors on the manufacturing line, survey drones, etc.
Direct data capture costs are directly related to obtaining the required information.Sir , according to this looks like 900 should be included .
And the answer in Kaplan is 800.May 28, 2025 at 10:52 am #717511but little difference in statement one is filling timesheets
May 28, 2025 at 3:12 pm #717519No – direct data capture is as stated in my previous reply (which is why the correct answer was 200)
