    Hello Sir,

I have just did my first attempt of paper P3 and i felt that it was a moderate paper.

My query is that in Q1 a company’s portfolio was given with three subsidaries and asked to analyze it.

I have analysed and advised that what to do with what subsidary but i didn’t use any model.

So will it be acceptable because it wasn’t specified that we have to use a model for answering that and i have give a detailed reasoning for the choices i have made.

Please do reply me cause i am very much nervous.

    Thank you.

Using a model might have given your advice more weight and would probably attract more marks. However, good advice and marks can be given without using a specific model.

Okay thanks for that, it relieved the stress i was facing for the past two days.

I have heard that people saying models are compulsory to apply.

But thinking as a business analyst i don’t find that appropriate.

Will examiner consider my approach and if he would have mentioned to use relevant model and still i haven’t used any then it would be a problem or not?

If the examiner asked you to use a model and you didn’t then of course there will be a problem.

If you have seen the December 2016 P3 exam, would you be able to confirm the NPV amount? Thanks

I don’t think the question you refer to has been published.
