I also become a Pingpong ball in between P4 and P7 for last couples of days. And still have not picked firmly, although P4 is getting priority due to my current job requirement. And here are my observations regarding P4 over the last couple of days:

*Positive side: Despite the negativity surroundings around this paper as the hardest paper in ACCA, the June’2013 and previous pass rates looks better than P5 and P7

*Negative side: I’ve done relatively well in the similar types of exam in my previous educations. So when I looked at the P4 past exam papers in ACCA website, it looks promising and doable from my perspectives. But when I actually tried to solve some of the past exam papers, than I realise the main problem associated with this paper is, TIME PRESSURE. I must agree that, even I know the whole syllabus, but if my hand writing is not fast enough, than this is not my subject.

By the way, my hand writing is pretty fast (I must brag here myself to be honest), but I could manage only 80% -85% of the paper on average in 3 hours and with lots of minor/major mistakes in these 80%-85%.Let say, I’m not ready yet and exam is far away from now, so these minor/major mistakes will be minimum in the exam. But I must confess that, this is more a time pressure exam to me than technical difficulties.

And from other thread on OT, I read that, Sunil (P4 Tutor with years of experience) took 35 mins in completing one of the section B questions from June 2013 exam. If that’s true, than I can see, any average (or average+) student is easily taking around 1 hour on that. And whole exam would easily go beyond 3 ½ hours for an ordinary student like me.

*My view: Since pass rates for P4, P5 and P7 looks similar, so we should choose from these papers depending on our current job requirements or future career plan rather than looking at difficulty level. After all, all the professional qualifications meant to be tough anyway.
