CIMA - F1 Practice
Hi shilpah,
I'm currently studying for F1 and I'm using Kaplan's F1 study text / exam kit along with Open Tuition's lectures.
Thanks,
Kyle
Thanks Kyle.
I am doing the same :-)
Hi,
Any suggestions on which mock exams are good to practice?
Regards,Imtiaz
Hi Imtiaz,
I use the Kaplan exam kit which comes with a mock exam and circa 250 assessment questions. You can also purchase CIMA Aptitude Two from Kaplan / CIMAstudy which will provide you with another 200 or so questions and a second mock exam.
Thanks,
Kyle
Hi Kyle
Thank you for your suggestion. I have taken the F1 exams already and did not make it - got 90!
Instead I purchased the 100 questions video series from Astranti and went through this and the Kaplan exam practice kit but no questions came from either.
Although the 100 questions video series helped to understand the content it was not sufficient.
Like you suggested I will purchase the Kaplan study guide and lecture notes from open tuition.
Regards,
Imtiaz
Good luck for the exam!
I passed F1 with flying colours last month by using the following:
Kaplan study text + OT lectures
BPP exam kit
I used this for initial practice after studying each chapter. Warning: this is not the official kit. It will have idiosyncrasies and questions on non-examinable areas, BUT the added difficulty will strengthen your understanding and abilities.
Kaplan exam kit
Final practice in the weeks leading up to the exam. I took the BPP kit slowly and added time pressure with the Kaplan kit. This step is a bit stressful, but again it is useful in the long run.
Kaplan / CIMA Aptitude mocks
Final week. Excellent for simulating the real exam.
My general advice is to have a positive attitude towards mistakes/errors and investigate them diligently. Getting things wrong (with the right mindset) becomes the most valuable part of practise!
Best of luck.
Hi Imtiaz,
Hope you are doing well with your F1 preparation. My suggestion is not waste too much money in purchasing materials.
Open Tuition lectures are more than enough to understand the topic. Obliviously it won't cover the entire study text but it will enable you to be confident to understand any topic within study text. As you mentioned that you have already purchased Kaplan materials. (i.e. Kaplan Essential Pack - Study Text, Exam Practice Kit and Revision Cards (Optional),If you also registered with Kaplan online resources ( not applicable with second hand books purchased) you will hundreds of questions to practice.
In simple, if you purchase only Kaplan Exam Practice Kit (£21) , Study Text (£37) and CIMA Aptitude Test 2 (£18) you will have over 800 questions to practice. Practice is the key.
