August 29, 2014 at 11:13 am #192883Hello tutor,
I am also thinking to attempt F9 this december for the first time .I wanted to ask about the book,I have one of kaplan’s 13 with 21chapters (548 pages last chapter asnwers and questions) and I have ordered the new exam kit again Kaplan’s . Can you tell me if the text book I have is enough and no changes have been made on the new book? Also I want your advise about the book I should read, because I don’t know how much time I will devote on F9 (my priority is to resit F5 so I will emphasise on F5)if I don’t have enough time is it better to study from your notes on F9 which are much more less pages and then the exam kit for practice or Kaplan’s text book which is enhanced ?
Thank you.August 29, 2014 at 12:18 pm #192901Vuong Tien Thanh: The syllabus for F9 has not changed from June 2014. However as you will know, the format of the exam will be different with Section A being multiple choice questions.
Because of the format change you should get a new Revision Kit because there will be lots of examples of multiple choice questions. The only way to pass is to study everything (using our free Course Notes and free lectures) and to make sure you really understand (and are not simply trying to learn rules). When you are confident that you understand everything then it is a question of practice, practice and practice. You must work through every question in your Revision Kit properly and only check (and learn from) the answer when you have attempted it properly yourself.
August 29, 2014 at 12:21 pm #192903Our notes are not mean to replace Study Texts – they are Course Notes to be used with the lectures.
If you watch all our free lectures (and understand them) then you will have enough knowledge to pass the exam well. Best then is to use the Study Text only as more of a reference book for extra help on areas that you find difficult from the lectures. But it is important to watch the lectures – just using the course notes alone is not enough.Certainly you need to use the Revision Kit – see my answer to Vuong Tien Thanh’s question above!!
One thing – do be careful not to get confused between F5 and F9. Although both papers have the word ‘management’ in the title, they are completely different papers – there is virtually no overlap between them at all.
September 20, 2014 at 10:48 am #195633Can you Mr Moffat put some sample MCQ F9 questions on opentuition….. That would help alot and we wluld be very grateful to u
September 20, 2014 at 6:09 pm #195679There are already sample questions in the test that you can access online on this website.
The test selects questions at random from a large number of questions, so every time you try it you should get new questions.
In addition, if you have not got a Revision/Exam Kit from one of the approved publishers, then you really must get one. They contain lots of exam-standard questions of the type in Section A and in Section B of the exam, and practice is vital. You really cannot risk attempting any of the ACCA exams without having used a Revision/Exam Kit.)
