In this question, it asks: using appropriate models and frameworks, analyse GET’s current strategic position from both an internal and external perspective.
I immediately thought SWOT, however it first uses PESTEL for external them Porter’s then strengths and weaknesses for financial analysis. Does it just depend on the scenario detail or how would I know. Is it because it’s a 20 mark question therefore I know I need to really analyse it!
Thanks in advance
SWOT always works, but other models can be used to help generate ideas. So, PESTEL generates ideas for external opportunities and threats, as does Porter’s forces. M-words (for resources) generate ideas for strengths and weaknesses (Money = financial resources/position).
It is more impressive if you can use a model or two in addition to SWOT.
Great, thank you for such a quick response!!
