Hi All, I got exemptions which include F7 so I am a little lost with SBR. What is the best way to approach learning? I only have the open tuition notes and I am in the process of trying to find where I can get a study book and revision book. I kind of feel everything is going over my head and I am only at chapter 4 !!!
September 5, 2018 at 9:40 pm #471713The chapters aren’t in difficulty order, I think chapter four is probably the most difficult. Some of the later ones are certainly very short and straightforward compared so don’t let this worry you too much.
When I studied for F7 the lectures were very good so if I were you I would go through all the F7 lectures relating to preparing consolidated financial statements. Work through the examples yourself using the lectures or notes to help but keep repeating them until you know exactly what you’re doing without having to look back.
Best of luck,
Michael

That sounds like good advice. I am currently on chapter 4 which is why I was getting worried
September 7, 2018 at 12:22 pm #472056I just sat SBR in the Sep sitting this time & even i had exemption for F7 and my knowledge was quite lacking because in University level it was was’t taught that well and it got my head spun looking at the past papers and answers.
So what i did was go through all the F7 lectures then P2 lectures and then got the Kaplan study text and exam kit. It’s fundamental to have a good understanding of each of the accounting standards as SBR has majority of discursive elements. Also group accounting along with Cash Flows which is quite easy to be honest once you get a hang oif it. Then I did as many questions as i found apart from the exam kit cause practice is very vital with any of the P papers.
Accordingly by doing the above i found the exam quite easy & hopeful of getting 85%+ in this exam. Best of luck Sam
