    Hi All

I am new to this forum so pardon me if I am saying something that is not right. I have been working in IT for a while but have decided to change my career to accounting and this site seems to be brilliant 🙂 my worry is how do I get some hands on experience in the job? does anyone know any companies that provide like an internship in accounting? I know the concepts of accounting well and am thinking of joining AAT in september. I live in milton keynes so anyone in and around bucks who are accountants or have friends that could guide me I shall be grateful. tried to contact a few agencies for accounts assistant jobs but they did not want to know me as I have no accounting experience 🙁 any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks and have a good weekend.

Best way to gain experience would be to contact any accountancy firms in your area and do some free work experience so you get an idea of what sorts of things they do etc.

Alot of people find it difficult to find work straight away but the AAT qualification will be the best place to start!! How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?

    Regards
    Sasha

Lakshmi, if you are serious about a career in accounting then you must be formally qualified to land a good job. However that does not mean that you won’t be qualified to do accounting jobs before completing your AAT qualification. Many firms want volunteers or interns who can work with them for about 3-4 hours every day for around 15-18 hours a week. Make this experience count in your cv by explaining it in the most detailed way possible. Target NGO’s who are always looking for a helping hand as they are short on funds. Google for NGO’s + ‘your location’ to find out a list of NGO’s. Let me know if this helps.

Where do you want to study your AAT levels from?

    Dear Lakshmi

I train candidates for accountancy experience in London.
The experience is mainly directed towards working in an accountancy practice.
It can be tailored to meet your needs and increase your chances of landing a job.

    Kind Regards
    Experience4u

    Dear Experience4u

I have most recently done a career change and I am Sage Line 50 qualified. I have done some very little short term contracts as a purchase ledger/sales ledger. I would like to gain more experience as a bookkeeper in a very competivie field with so many peolple who are far more experienced than me.

It would be grateful if you could help

    Dear All,

Best way of gaining experience is to be in contact with a consaltuncay firm and work free part-time.
