September 2019 ACCA FR exam — historical results

Absolutely no idea how that went. Back questions were analysis and recommendation of two target acqusition companies One consolidated SFP. Could not get it to balance. Nothing on deferred tax which is great as I cannot get my head around it, but really uncertain how it went. First set of questions seemed to all be very similar. Flip a coin as to whether I passed or not I have no idea. You would think three hours would be enough to complete the exam but it is always a struggle

Thought the exam was all good. Had negative goodwill on consolidation which I was suspicious about...anyone else have this? Think it was Paisley and Scottish or something
NINayeemul Islam6y ago#3
Got exactly the same i expected in Sec C, 1. Preparation of SPL and SFP 2. Profit on group disposal and ratio analysis, overall it was easy!

Yes even i got negative goodwill Was not able to tally the balance sheet

Sections A & B seemed ok and pretty good. Section B had ratio analysis and consolidated SFP. Ratio analysis I think was pretty good for me, but I couldn't balance SFP and ended up making so many adjustments I'm 99% sure it's all wrong at the end. However, really hoping on those marks with ratio analysis question.

we had the same questions. it was actually pretty basic...even my SOFP balanced .. i geuss 20 is secured! hahaha.. The MCQs were mixed.. some theoritical about framework and tax was so horrible.. others were so simple... overall my exam set was pretty decent to achieve a pass.... Head from some friends who got consolidation on sec-c,, it was damn right... and took more than an hour for them to complete that ..

@ryanb88 i think we had the same question type. i wasnt expecting a whole balance sheet. and when it came to recommendation i was giving suggestion instead of being firm in my decision, i just hope i make it this time.

I had to draft SPL and SFP I forgot to adjust them to 6 months... Will I lose a all the marks? Also had consolidated spl and ratio and comments.. It was okay until i remembered that i did not adj the SFP and SPL to 6 months time :/ Can someone advise....

I had a consolidated SOFP and that was okay to deal with but I'm not so sure about the ratio 'Aqua'. Anyone else had this? I wasn't so sure about the placing of a next year redeemable loan for ROCE and gearing, and that's when it got messed up.
Kkaadence6y ago#10
so am I to understand that the exam has different questions for different people? I got no consol SOFP.
RRyan6y ago#11
@cathyspicy Yes, we definitely had the same. I think I did very poorly on the SFP, felt much more comfortable with the acquisition targets - I recommended the smaller acquisition (reef?). Fingers crossed, we wait and see!
Kkaadence6y ago#12
Q 31 was to do a correct disposal of Skien from Pine 6 marks then do comparative for 20X9 to those for 20X8 4 marks comment on ratios for 10 marks Q32 Adjusted Profit 5 SOFP 11 Earnings Per Share 4

This is not funny that after you have studied and practiced to come up against a confusing exam like those mcqs. SMH. Well ACCA! You outdone yoself. If I pass this it's a miracle. Failing F7 FR for a 100th time? Wow.

Yeah I got a bargain purchase as well. I wanted to confirm that too.
TTed6y ago#15
What was the retained earnings in the consolidated sofp in the Goodwill of the subsidiary at acquisition? Did you use the reporting date one or take the profits to date from it ?
BBea6y ago#16
I also had the sfp consolidation. I got about 9000 roughly for bargain purchase. To calculate the net assets at acquisition you take the retained earnings on the report and add the lossbforbthe 6 months of the yeaer of 5000 (because its a mid year aquisition) mine balanced but I know I showed the bargain purchase incorrectly but never mind figure I may only lose a point or so hopefully
JJoseph6y ago#17
Yeah mine was 9000 roughly as well. I put it into retained earnings as I thought that a bargain purchase went straight to the P&L.
Ccatherine6y ago#18
@ryanb88 yea reef and coral. i dint recommend, i missed that part of the question somehow..i was only commenting. its all good. like you said we wait.

Found the consolidation really hard. I deffered it I then sat it during the resist period but failed. I have got a resist in January
CCindy6y ago#26
I believe so as mine my Section C was about preparation of SOFP and SOPL for one company only and the other was on NCI,Ratios and interpretation on the impact of acquisition of a competitor company (Melt Co) with company name Vaughan Co.

UUrmil6y ago#27
yeah i too got negative goodwill, and have to take that negative goodwill directly to p&l and not to statements of financial position. it was also trick question , regarding investment adjustments
RRobert6y ago#28
Thanks for the feedback. Looks like there are different sets of questions, then, because one of my part C was ratio analysis (“Bun Co.”) and the other a consolidation of a SToFP.
