I am not an affiliate. I am about to take P1, P2, and P3. I am really unsure what to do. I have compared the two syllabus and there are a few similarities. E3 CIMA seems like a carbon copy of P3 Business Analysis in ACCA. P3 CIMA has a few P1 ACCA Elements. F3 CIMA again has a few P4 ACCA elements. It looks like maybe CIMA won’t add as much as I thought it would. However, then comes the choice of doing the MSc without doing any options or doing options and then the masters. Such difficult choices. Worse than studying! I may just not do the MSc altogether and do a MBA as suggested above after a few years working.

Even though neither P4 nor P5 has the word strategic in their names, I doubt anyone would suggest their examine purpose otherwise. So if you are taking the Msc route, you are actually taking up P4 and P5 as the option papers in ACCA.
CIMA’s F3 is very much like ACCA’s P4, and CIMA’s P3 is part from ACCA’s P1 and P5. The organisation evaluation part in ACCA’s P5 I believe is done in CIMA’s P2.August 6, 2015 at 12:27 pm #265870Has anyone heard any more regarding this programme, pre registration opened on 01 August, I call UoL Int Programmes today and they said they were beginning to contact people who had registered their interest, has anyone on this forum been contacted?

August 6, 2015 at 8:40 pm #265955I haven’t been contacted from UOL. I’m still waiting to hear from them.but question is does that msc professional accountancy worth it?
August 7, 2015 at 7:03 am #265991UOL is a reputable university. So, MSc from UOL is attractive. However, is MBA better than MSc since I am ACCA member now? I am in the dilemma situation now =(

August 12, 2015 at 9:06 pm #266979Does anyone know how soon the ACCA will acknowledge your pass in the first two modules which basically are P4 and P5, is it once you pass them, or do you have to wait till you complete the MSc programme?
October 13, 2015 at 8:14 am #276145Does it worth for your career development to go for Msc ( cost benefit analysis ) or it won’t add much more value comparing to its cost ? for example going for MBA instead of Msc in finance
October 22, 2015 at 5:54 pm #278457Hi all ,I am thinking of joining Msc professional accounting in January, any one joining?

Hi all,I have received information regarding the MSc that ACCA are offering. I have thought about a potential route for myself in terms of study. I had a few questions, if anyone could help me. This is my route:
Finish ACCA doing P6 Advanced Taxation and P7 Advanced Audit and Assurance as the options
Do professional ethics module and submit project for BSc Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes
Enter CIMA through professional gateway route and finish CIMA strategic level
Do the MSc Professional Accountancy as an affiliate/member of ACCAWhat I found most difficult was deciding between the modules below:
ACCA: Advanced Performance Management, Advanced Financial Management
MSc: Strategic Performance Management, Strategic Financial Management, Strategic Financial Project
CIMA: Risk Management, Financial Strategy, Strategic ManagementAs you can see you I have decided to go with the CIMA route as I felt this offers more in terms depth and knowledge. However, I may be wrong which is why I wanted advice. What is the difference between these modules and what do you think offers most relevant knowledge and application to the real world? You also may wonder why I want to do both CIMA and ACCA, this is because I want to be a more rounded individual with skills in management accounting. I am not trying to collect credentials, I believe the strategic level of CIMA offers knowledge ACCA does not provide. Please correct me if I am wrong. I feel ACCA does not have much management accounting in it. I also chose P6 Advanced Taxation and P7 Advanced Audit and Assurance as my ACCA options so that I have covered all bases.
Thanks,
Harry
Hi Harry,
Based on my experience, if i were you, i would do the followings route:
1) Finish P6 and P7 (this is good combination)
2) Enter into MSc as affiliate route (select Global financial issue and Project)
3) complete CIMA requirements (Risk Management, Financial Strategy, Strategic Management). Please bear in mind, personally i did not do CIMA thus not quite sure what is the requirement to get CIMA. But in my opinion you can take all these 3 papers so you can rounded up your knowledge.
In the above case, you knowledge wont be significantly overlapped.
You may think of other option, which in my opinion is better than above.
Follow no.1 and no. 2. Replace no.3 with a MBA. As MBA is all rounded degree and popular to employer, It could advance your career to management level. However, which MBA to choose depends on your career goals.
thanks.
July 1, 2016 at 1:24 pm #324529I am planning to do the masters too after getting through with all ACCA exams, but I do not find the program vague. I think it is a good opportunity and that MSc is quite valuable.
July 2, 2016 at 2:10 am #324557Same here
I think it’s fantastic considering the normal Masters will cost in excess of Β£7K.
I’m hoping to be doing my final paper in December and than will join them. The layout of programme is quite simple so let’s see.July 17, 2016 at 7:47 am #326125same here….though im looking for more info like how the whole system will work?
July 17, 2016 at 8:39 am #326127Can anyone provide me more info on this …like how people outside uk will do it and other stuffs like how study and exam will work ?

Thanks in advanceHi, I merged your question into this existing thread.
I thought it would have been a good idea to have this discussion moved to the “topic” section in order to give it more visibility but it has been moved back…
Hopefully, someone will contribute to the discussion, I am also moderately interested in this Master.https://www.londoninternational.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ucl/professional-accountancy-msc-pg-cert
July 23, 2016 at 8:27 am #328463Does anybody have an idea if it is realistic to enter on both courses and finish the whole thing in six months. I am talking about pathway 2 which has only two courses.
November 22, 2016 at 7:19 pm #350739I have graduated from UoL BSc and on my diploma supplement is written that we can advance to both BSc and MSc so I think ACCA MSc is also good for PhD.

Hi ladies and gents,
Is there anybody who has actually enrolled in the program and can comment on:
– general learning experience?
– communication with lecturers?
– passing assignments and final exams?
– any set backs?I have 2 options left to pass and am thinking about joining Pathway 1, it simply seems that it will fit better my studying style and it would be great to hear any feedback from current students or those who have completed it.
Any feedback appreciated.April 16, 2017 at 9:07 pm #381617I got this reply from the University of London when I made a similar enquiry:
“Thank you for your enquiry.
The marks you receive for your ACCA papers will not count towards the mark you receive for the MSc Professional Accountancy.
You will be assessed by coursework and a project for each module. The final mark from each module will be used to generate your final mark and classification for the MSc. Please see the link below for information on how each assignment is weighted for each module.
https://www.londoninternational.ac.uk/sites/default/files/module-assessment-weightings.pdf
The following mark scheme is used for the MSc:
Mark range Outcome
70% and over – Distinction
60% β 69% – Merit
50% β 59% – Pass
0% β 49% – Fail– To calculate the final grade for the award the marks for the University of London modules are weighted equally.
– To be granted the award with Merit your mean average mark for the two University of London modules must be between 60% and 69%.
– To be granted the award with Distinction your mean average mark for the two University of London modules must be 70% or above.
Weighting of the assessments
– The overall mark for Global issues for the finance professional [PAM100] is calculated by weighting the marks achieved for coursework item 1, coursework item 2 and the project item in a ratio of 25:25.50.
– The overall mark for Strategic financial project [PAM006] is calculated by weighting the marks achieved for the coursework item and the project item in a ratio of 30:70.
Please see the link below for further details regarding assessment for the MSc Professional Accountancy.
I hope this information is helpful, if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to get back in touch.
Yours Sincerely
