Passed with 58% first attempt.
I’m really sorry to hear the frustration but I will say. Check your exam techniques. I tend to focus on part C before going to part B and Part A in the exam.
So that even if I don’t get to part A in time, I have done part C well to just pass. This has been my technique as I hate multiple choice.
January 18, 2021 at 8:13 am #606632Passed FM with 51% thanks to opentution
January 18, 2021 at 8:53 am #606652Failed with 49%…. Time management is very important which I feel in this exam. My section b was too time consuming and at last I just randomly click answer…. but will give again in March.. I will like to hear from you guys who passed in first attempt.
January 18, 2021 at 9:20 am #606666Passed 53%, 6th attempt after numerous 49%! So happy it’s finally done with and I can sit my final exam.
For those who haven’t passed, don’t loose hope! I’m proof that if you stick at it you’ll eventually get the pass
January 18, 2021 at 9:34 am #606677Failed with 49% just need it 1 mark !!!
January 18, 2021 at 9:46 am #606681Passed with 70% at first attempt. I did try every single question on both Kaplan and BPP exam kits. if you have enough time, please try as many questions as you could. I found those questions from Kaplan and BPP are so different. I personally think those ones from Kaplan are harder. Good luck everybody!
January 18, 2021 at 9:47 am #606682Failed for the fourth time! 40% this time and 48% last time. Didn’t think it was possible to get a lower mark with more studying. I focus solely on exam kit when revising. I honestly feel like giving up now!
January 18, 2021 at 10:28 am #606709Pass, Thank you very much John, you always find a way to transfer logic to your lectures!
January 18, 2021 at 10:36 am #606714Passed 53%, Congrats to all others that also did. To those that didn’t, its not over, there is always next time. It’s not an easy course but you will get there, if it was easy everyone would do it.
Put the time in, learn what you don’t know rather than practice what you do.
I thought the exam on the whole was quite odd, worked in my favor but the exam had some odd questions in section A and C coming from directions I was not expecting!
January 18, 2021 at 10:38 am #606719Funny you mention the TERP question, I have been thinking the same thing, even now I can remember the answers. It was a process of elimination rather than using the taught technique, very odd!
January 18, 2021 at 10:48 am #606728First off did u understand ur topics and the questions carefully? like dont just memorize the answers and you’re off (speaking from experience) like fully understand them.
January 18, 2021 at 11:19 am #606769Two words of advice I will give anyone planning to take the exam are:
1. Get the knowledge
2. Practice1. Get the knowledge:
This involves making sure you are using the most effective method of studying, e.g. self-study or getting a good tuition provider. The lectures on OpenTuition is very good. I will highly recommend getting a study text and a revision kit from an ACCA approved content provider e.g. Kaplan or BPP.
Also, think about how many papers you are sitting in an exam. Depending on other current commitments, would it be good to do maybe just one paper at a time rather than two? I find it better to focus on one paper and pass than do multiple papers and fail them. By passing the papers one at a time, it helps keep the momentum.
I heard a quote in a movie that says:“The steps you take don’t need to be big. They just need to take you in the right direction.”
2. Practice:
When you study, make sure you have got the knowledge and understand what you have studied. One way to ensure this is to practice exam standard questions.
Practice is very important for many reasons: you intensify your understanding, detect any weaknesses, and enhance exam technique. All of these are very important not just to your exam success, but also to your whole studying experience and also at the workplace. One thing I realised from my early papers was that I fail not because I don’t have the knowledge, but because I have not practiced enough.
So I say: Practice, practice, practice!I will say one thing to those who failed their papers:
Failure is not final, failure is a part of our journeys and sometimes a vital part of our successes. Some of us who passed have failed once or several times before.
In all things, it is the courage to continue that counts. So don’t give up, press on, and enjoy the journey. You are already a success when you decided to sit the exam. Keep putting one step in front of the other. You can do this! All the best of luck to everyone!
January 18, 2021 at 12:35 pm #606837Please dont give in, I sat this paper 5 times and passed on my last attempt with 54%.
January 18, 2021 at 12:37 pm #606839This happened to me!! I got 38%, 48%, 49% then down to 40% and have just passed on my 5th attempt with 54%. Its so upsetting when you feel like you’re putting you’re all in to it. Keep at it, you will get there 🙂

got 52% only but i am not complaining. passed both the PM and FM exams on my first attempt with barely 3 weeks of study time for both papers. i just relied solely on OT’s notes.
January 18, 2021 at 12:55 pm #606844I am still wondering about this TERP question. Absolutely floored me, and like you, I know how to do them. The way this was worded and the fact that I couldn’t get ANY of the potential answers just completely threw me off.
I still want to know how it was done!
Anyway, passed – just – with 50%.January 18, 2021 at 3:01 pm #606904Failed, only 42%, 1st attempt, I think i need practice more with discussion questions, also have difficulties with forwards, TERP.
I will prepare for a March exam.
January 18, 2021 at 5:30 pm #606975Watch Open tuition videos, and practice all the risk management questions in BPP and Kaplan. You’ll be very good. If you’re writing March exams, start focusing on the ones you don’t know now. Leave the easy ones so you can have ample time to prepare yourself.
January 18, 2021 at 7:02 pm #607003I am also one who wrote this paper over and again and eventually passed. I I strongly advise the following for a pass:
1. Go through every single past year paper available. Know them like the back of your hand.
2. Understand your strong and weak areas. I am stronger at section c so I started there and gave myself the chance to earn as many marks as possible.
3. Have a good general understanding of the entire textbook. They love to.ask section A questions from random, seemingly irrelevant parts of the textbook. In the days leading up to the exam, read the theory parts of the textbook a few times.
4. Have a solid knowledge of the core areas, EOQ, Receivables, WACC, IRR, NPV, etc.
5. Summarize the key points of the text book in around 10 to 15 pages in your own words. I don’t suggest learning from the textbooks. The lectures on OT will provide you with a good foundation and you can then refer back to the key points you summarised.I really hope this helps. This paper is not impossible to pass but you do need to make wise choices.
January 18, 2021 at 7:10 pm #607006I failed too with 48% but was a second attempt. I am sick of these multiple choice questions. Going to sit in March but it is going to be remote. Not sure if it is good idea 🙁
January 18, 2021 at 8:02 pm #607022Passed 65% at first attempt. Thanks Open Tuition.
January 19, 2021 at 9:02 am #607119Passed from first attempt with 53%! Many thanks to Mr John and Open Tuition team!
January 19, 2021 at 9:03 am #607120Thanking firstly the best teacher John Moffat for such a wonderful set of lectures that made me able to pass the exam with 74%. Secondly, appreciation attribution goes to open tuition for providing a platform for free lectures and other facilities and the provision of world class teachers. I am now proceeding with Taxation and of course along with the lectures by open tuition. Thanking again open tuition for such an opportunity
January 19, 2021 at 9:05 am #607121I passed after failing 3 times, to encourage those who failed please don’t give up. Just work harder. And practice practice practice. In my opinion start with section c, then b and finally a. Make sure you know the topics in section c very well. All the best next time.
A big thanks to open tuition
January 19, 2021 at 11:56 am #607153Got 67%! Thank you OpenTuition!!
I read that a lot of people weren’t unfortunately able to pass. I’d recommend you all to be thorough with the concepts and the practicing using the exam kit is very helpful. Also, try taking up mock exams to be able to get the exam feel and to see how well you are able to manage time!
I did not even get a text- used only the open tuition notes & videos for concepts I didn’t understand. I’m used to self-studying, but do whatever works for you and remember;
Understand concepts
Practice Exam Kit questions
Attempt at least 2 mock exams SINCERELYI’m sure if you follow these steps and work hard, you’ll ace it!
All the best guys!!! - AuthorPosts
