I sat the exam today, Sections A and B is a bit hard as there are 5 questions in a true or false format, some of the questions also don’t have the choices. I took the CBE exam for the first time.
With regards to Section C, the topics were relevant costing and not-for profit organisation which I think I did well.
I hope I get at least 50%. 🙂
June 6, 2018 at 2:55 pm #457031Hi Guys,
I just took the exam.
A strong advise make, make sure u study the Question 253 and 258 in Kaplan revision kit.
These were my exact exams! Like 100% the same but different numbers.
But unfortunately I didn’t pay too much attention to these questions during revision time.
Just hoping for some miracle now cuz these were like 40 scores in total . :’(June 6, 2018 at 3:00 pm #457036Hi
I gave my F5 exam today. It wasn’t a good paper. How about the markings? Is it tight marking??

June 6, 2018 at 3:31 pm #457059Hi guys,
Well…I’ve been trying to do a post-mortem on the exam this morning, I literally have no idea how I feel about it! Section C for me was expected values and transfer pricing – normally I’m good with EV but found this part hard, normally I’m rubbish with TP but found this ok!
Sections A/ B are a mystery to me…there were some multiple true/ false ones where I knew 3 for sure but wasn’t sure on 1, kind of annoying that it could negate the other 3! There was a question on throughput (for North factory?) that I just couldn’t work out, and normally I’m good with throughput…similarly the rolling budget figure for cost of sales got me, which is annoying!
We’ll see anyway. This is my first ACCA exam, I’m wondering if they will all be this difficult/ intense…
June 6, 2018 at 4:23 pm #457111Hi Guys,
I can’t even imagine if this was F5 Paper. It was so tough. The MCQ was so confusing and tricky. Section C was Expected Values which i found it hard
June 6, 2018 at 4:28 pm #457115Well… this was a shocker for me. I sat the CBE.
The section C question I had were Ted the popstar (EV) and AA Hotel (Balanced scorecard)
regarding the balanced scorecard performance measurements I was pretty happy with where as the EV calculations for Ted were difficult, pretty sure I barely got anything right 🙁
Section A & B questions were odd for me, I knew what area of the syllabus was testing however I could not be 100% on my answers, they were worded to strangely.
Either way, this was my first attempt at F5 and I’m pretty certain I’ll have to re-sit this one, i’ll keep at it through the summer and book the re-sit exam in few weeks.
EDIT: 2 and half hours my PC crashed so my exam had to be stopped, I was twiddling my thumbs and saw many other students getting question I would have happily answered, annoyed.
So yeah, exam was resumed 25 minutes after it crashed.
June 6, 2018 at 4:35 pm #457123Same with us here in SG, the exam was stopped with 22 minutes still remaining in my time. I was actually hoping to start the exams again as I got stuck with first 5 questions which took me 30 mins to answer. Because of this, I wasn’t able to go back and review my answers.
Did anyone here had the question on rolling budget of revenues and cost of sales? How did you guys answer it? What I did was I took the Jan 200X actual result and added the revised Feb and March Budget. Is this correct?
June 6, 2018 at 4:38 pm #457129Sat for CBE and the questions were so tough.Section C was not that so hard but had to focus a lot but Section A and B as so so hard. Had many theory related questions rather than the numericals one and I suck a lot on these questions. The topic that I had full confidence on even turned out to be a nightmare at exam halls.
Hope I get at least 50%June 6, 2018 at 4:42 pm #457131Glad I’m not the only one thinking section A & B were tough
June 6, 2018 at 4:51 pm #457139Part A and B was sooo much tricky… for every single mcqs examiner challenges candidates. I found even some mcqs which answer have to be 4 to 5 statements. Come on there should be a limit to test candidates nerves…
June 6, 2018 at 4:53 pm #457141Guys is marking hard of this exam?
June 6, 2018 at 4:53 pm #457142Even after studying the entire syllabus, and practicing more than 16 mock exams, I still found the paper to be ridiculously difficult 🙁
June 6, 2018 at 5:02 pm #457149I took paper base exams. Section C was same like urs and it was hard for EV
June 6, 2018 at 5:10 pm #457156It was average based paper hope that i will pass some questions i know which will help you??….
section A
1: payoff table was given like 100 capacity 150 demand was there sell price was $2.50 and cost $1 disposal cost $0.40 we have find profit
2:inter and external data mcqs
3: least likely benefitial for trading company
4: decrease in cost gap mcqs
5:abc costing mcqs in which we have units i think (x=5000units) and (y=11000units) material handling 5m2 and 8m2 total cost pool was $80000 we have to find cost per overhead of x?
6: life costing calculation based question
[two mcqs from environmental chpt]section b:
1:throughput was tough in which we have to find throught ratio first then profit and some theory questions how to increase ratio
2:sale mix variance was there in which i got $2400 fav ans and some theory type if mix will adverse what this create totally theory mcqs was there mtqs
3: contribution per unit we have to calculate but i can’t got correct answer we have 100000 units vc:$32.5
fixed cost was 22.5m2 profit margin was 85%…. and then some penetration policies question and optimal price questionSection C:
1: zero based budget question in which we have some decision pakages and we have to make buget by some conditions are there…. and then i have to explain which is suitable to allocate decision pakages…. last advantages of zero based budget
2: balance scorecard to be implemented in (AA hotel) i have to explain first and then for each perspective of the balance scorecard indentify goal with indicator…. like in past paper (JAMAIR DEC 2014 QUESTION)
“hope that i will bring easier for whom who had not given this paper ?”June 6, 2018 at 5:30 pm #457160Hi @fahda40
Which decision package have you chosen for Zero base budget?June 6, 2018 at 5:48 pm #4571671. What was the answer to the “least useful for trading company” question?
2. Life cycle costing question?June 6, 2018 at 5:48 pm #457168Everyone seems to have different questions to section c? I had transfer price and ev of ted which was really hard. Others are saying zero based budgeting and balance scorecard.
June 6, 2018 at 5:50 pm #457170I ran out of time and attempted question 32 balance scorecard question, missed 31 as I wasn’t sure about it anyway. definitely giving a re-exam

I had the exact same exam…I completely agree with you. There were too many options to the ‘wordy’ multiple choice questions within section A. Section B wasn’t too bad, albeit the throughput one a little tricky…
Section C I had a mare on the expected values – not something I even considered could be so in depth…I thought the transfer pricing went incredibly well. It’s going to be tight for me but I think i’ve just fallen short.
June 6, 2018 at 6:01 pm #457178Ran out of time in Section C as was too engrossed in double checking the answers in A/B.
ACCA has its ways of making us students pull our hairs out during the exam because some of the questions require you to really understand the theory and apply it to different scenarios.
Overall, good experience. Hope that I’ll be able to pass.
My Section C was zero based budgeting and my answer is Decision Package 3.. anyone?
June 6, 2018 at 6:04 pm #457180My section c was transfer prices and expected value both i messed up. I dont understand why everyone had different qs to section c
June 6, 2018 at 6:07 pm #457185I found section A and B quite easy. What was the answer to the relevant costing question in section A, did you have to add materials with variable overheads (spare capacity machine hours) ? And what was the answer to environmental , was it prevention cost. Anyway I got C for the first four mcq in section A. There were lots of Cs in section A for me. I sat for the paper base. Btw the Ev question was terrible. Balance Scorecard was quite fair.
June 6, 2018 at 6:08 pm #457189I really hope the questions for EV ted are for the 10 non counting points.
I had section A: rolling budget
Section b: rolling budget
Section c: EV ted and Balance scorecard AA hotel - AuthorPosts
