Second attempt and passed 51% ( first attempt 28%) It’s best feeling finally completing journey I got exemptions from 8 exams and only failed AFM as basics so important for this exam. Good luck everyone- never give up, I though to give up and do AAA or APM but then 6 weeks of intense revision was enough to pass.

58% first time- I convinced myself that I failed it! Even had a dream a week ago about all of that.. It was a strange paper, and my numbers were definitely wrong in some parts, but hey! Thank you John Muffet and OT! ??

Cleared in 1st attempt with 63. Couldn't have made it without OpenTuition. I'm highly grateful to the entire team. Thanks a lot.
KKasthuri6y ago#14
Thank God. Passed at 50%. Thank you very much OT and brilliant lecturer Mr Moffat.
Mmelvin6y ago#15
Passed with lower marks than I expected (67). Found the exam easy. Spent most of my time reading AFM at the expense of AAA. Surprisingly scored higher in AAA. Now qualified yayyyy.... I'm really grateful to OT study materials. I never had to use any other study Text even when my firm gave me BPP for free. There just wasn't enough time to read them. Passed every paper back to back with single attempts with just OT, ACCA technical articles and Past questions

I passed with a 55% and this was my third attempt. I'm so proud of myself. I remember last time when the results came out and l was wandering how l had failed. I changed my study materials and strategy. And that really helped me pass this time around. Thank you God.

This is the reply to 'ong' I passed with 68% in the 1st attempt First you should find the area you suffer from your past failures and my advice is to practice doing kit questions of different patterns, the kit I prefer is Kaplan, there are 80 questions and I did around 75 questions twice plus covered the text book in my 2.5 months time Also don't forget to send mock to ACCA, it'll be send to you or enquire ACCA via mail, once you submitted the mock question paper, they'll reply in 3-4 days quoting the areas to improve which is very useful, but the only problem is that the mock question used to be too easy compared to the real exam so never stop practicing even if you scores good marks for the mock, at the same time it also means that scoring 50 marks in mock will do no good and indicated that you have to improve more. One request is don't forget to post your comments like this, it will help others, helping others is never a bad thing

It was a good subject to learn and interesting comparing to the other papers. The factor which makes this paper easier than the rest is the quantitative questions, when I say easy I mean it is easy to score marks for the problems, even if our figure is wrong they'll give almost full marks if the steps done are clear and the bonus is that one can score marks for the other steps even if they makes any steps wrong. All we need to do is to make the concepts clear for eg. When and how to use futures, options etc.; How to calculate the gain to shareholders at acquisition, etc. You'll discover more when practicing And to those who fear self study will not be possible I have to say is that I passed through self study bad the only drawback I felt is that I didn't know which area to focus more and had to look the entire text which is more than what's needed, a good lecture can even replace the need for refering the text. AFM is One of the papers which can be passed at the first attempt if the right affort is given. Good luck

((deleted)6y ago#26
Scored 81. First attempt. 1 more to go.
((deleted)6y ago#27
Thank you
VVicky6y ago#28
passed second attempt at 53, first time was 46. Thank you so much John and OT team. 1 more paper to go! To anyone who didn't make it the first/second/multi round, as cliche as this may sound, you just need to not give up and keep trying till you pass. FM&AFM have been my worst nightmares as I am someone who struggle with quantitative questions, but trust me, hard work will pay off eventually.

Ong - I didnt make notes. As this was my third sitting, i had to review how i was studying and change. I used the Kaplan text book and went through the Test Yourself questions within the chapters, watched OT lecture videos to understand the basics. I focused on the exam questions as this is where you will really develop your understanding. I spent 3 weeks going through the text book and then rest of the time just on the exam kit. Also read the examiners notes. Good Luck :)

Failed first time (lower mark), this time scored 81. The difference was definitely not in my understanding of the subject (which was pretty solid), but in practicing. I did not do a single practice exam nor exercise in my previous attempt (I was too busy with one pressurised project at that point with a deadline and was lucky to even attend the exam). You will pass if you: 1) Watch all AFM OpenTuition lectures 2) Solve BPP Exam kit 2x properly (meaning, as if it was a real exam, so also fully solving narrative questions) and reading solutions afterwards 3) Literally stick to the Time Management on the exam day. If the exam starts 11:00, you do: Q1: 11:00-12:38 Q2: 12:38-13:27 Q3: 13:27-14:15 It is a cliche, but this exam is not about how well you understand the theory. You may totally understand it, but if you do not practice, you will not pass. If you do not stick to the time management, you will not pass.
