    Hi sir,
I just wonder the reason why ” it gives all competitors greater breathing space” when ” in such circumstances, Companies competing in the market can continue to improve their results simply by keeping up with industry performance.”

If the whole market is expanding, each supplier can improve their results simply by hanging on to their current market share. It is fairly relaxed for everyone. If the market is not expanding, the only way sales can increase is by stealing competitors’ sales, which is much more intense and difficult.
