If I have the BPP revision kits for 2021/2022 years is it too risky to prepare by them for FM exam in June 2026? If it’s better to buy new which one you recommend more BPP or Kaplan?
J
John MoffatTutor·
It is a bit risky and you would be better to buy the current editions.
Kaplan and BPP are both good although as an OpenTuition student you can get a 20% discount on BPP books by using the link that appears on this website.
P
Prathik·
Hello John,
I have the BPP revision kits valid for the June 2026 exams for both F8 and F9. Since the new editions are available for the September 2026 exam, do I need to get the new revision kits or can I rely on the ones I have? Would there be any changes in the syllabus? I am planning to write my exams in Sep 2026.
Thank you.
J
John MoffatTutor·
You are OK with the Kits that you have :-)
P
Prathik·
Hello John :)
Are these lectures relevant to the June 2026 exams ?
Also, is the exam time 3 hours or 3 h 20 m ? The lecture says the latter but the latest acca essential sheet says the former. This is for the CBE session btw.
J
John MoffatTutor·
Yes they are relevant, and it is 3 hours.
R
Raj·
Hello sir ,
The videos are to helpful for me.
I have a question :- should I use ACCA study Hub Resources instead of Kaplan or BPP ? Is it helpful?
J
John MoffatTutor·
The Study Hub is very good indeed. Maybe use the Study Hub and a BPP Exam kit (and, of course, our free lectures :-) )
R
Raj·
thank you for your answer.
T
Thashieela·
Hi Sir, I prefer to listen rather read. is this lectures covering all the information of FM? thanks
J
John MoffatTutor·
The lectures cover more than enough to be able to pass the exam well (provided that you then practice lots and lots of past exam and other exam style questions from your Exam Kit).

Good afternoon sir
I am a Zambian student pursing my C.A Zambia , my question is that are your lecture videos valid to us here
In Zambia
H
Hassan·
Yh In some areas yes because the ACCA syllabus and the ca syllabus aren't very different the only thing is that your syllabus might not have some of the topics that the ACCA syllabus has but other than that it should be okay to use the open tuition videos
Hope I have answered your question
A

Dear Sir, i came back to your lectures to thank you for helping me with your lectures in passing this papers. I took your lectures plus practice from kaplan and passed the exam. Hi,
I just took the first lecture which is Chapter 1 and have read the notes.
I then took the test.
There were only almost 2 mcqs from this chapter and the other were not part of this chapter. Why is this?
Did you miss those topucs or they are explained in another chapter?

J
Joanna·
Hello,
I have Kaplan books - from Sep '21 to June '22, has there been any significant changes except for those shown in ACCA?
J
John MoffatTutor·
No significant changes. You do not really need the Study Text if you are watching our free lectures, but the Exam Kit is essential because it is so important to practice past questions. Just make sure that you also practice the more recent past exams on the ACCA website (because they will not be in your exam kit).
J
Joanna·
Thank you for the reply, hoping to pass this exam as well. Great lectures sir! :)
Kind regards.

Hi sir,
I actually plan to sit for the September session 2023, I did like to know if these lectures and notes will be viable? as I plan to self study will these lectures help me? Apart from that I am using the exam kit valid till June 22 as I got from a friend is that ok? or is it advisable to use the latest exam kit?
Thank you in advance,
Huda
J
John MoffatTutor·
Our lectures and notes are fine because there are no significant changes in the syllabus for the September exam. Your Exam Kit is fine as well, but do also practice the recent exams on the ACCA practice platform because those questions will not be in your Exam Kit.

Mr. John,

Hi Sir,
I have the same concern as many student's asked before, if these lessons are still valid for December 2022 exam sitting ? In addition I am using the backdated study kit , last sitting was December 2020( as I got it form my friend.) Is this a problem ? As syllabus didn't change that much
Thank you very much in advance,
Dalia
J
John MoffatTutor·
Yes - the lectures are valid for December 2022.
Using the old study text is OK (although you do not really need a study text if you are watching out lectures), but it is always best to have a current edition of the Revision Kit because it will have more recent past exam question in it as well as obviously being up-to-date as regards the syllabus :-)

I PASSED!!! Hi John, just a quick note to thank you for your lecture and your notes. The course was planned out so well & your lectures and notes were so straight to the point. When a lecturer is as passionate as you about getting students through the exams, it makes the world of difference! Thank you again
J
John MoffatTutor·
Thank you for your comment, and many congratulations on having passed :-) :-)
J
John MoffatTutor·
The only change is the addition of explaining what Fintech is. It is only a minor addition and will be added to the notes, but does not need a lecture.
Otherwise everything is valid for the September 2022 exam.
F

Hello. Thank you so much for such amazing lectures. My only concern is, whether I can sit of September 22 exams by watching these lectures or are they going to be updated?
L

Can the videos be downloaded?
J

No. The only way that we can keep this website free of charge is to only allow them to be watched online (which in fact is that same as what the tuition providers who charge for watching their videos do :-) )

The syllabus for September 2021 exams have some changes new section referred to as Part H Employability And Technology Skills have been introduced.
J
John MoffatTutor·
This is not a new learning section. It has been added to all the syllabuses and is simply ensuring that students are able to use the CBE exam software.
There is lots of information about the CBE software on the ACCA website and we have a lecture (linked from Revision Kit Live) working through a past exam question using the CBE software.

J

It is sad for us to that we are not able to make them available in China - it is because the videos themselves are hosted on YouTube.
However some students have got round it by using a VPN service. I don't know whether that would be possible for you.

Can we have a response to this, am planning to take FM in March 2020 - computer based.
J
John MoffatTutor·
You would get a response if you asked in the Ask the Tutor Forum rather than put it as a comment on a lecture!!! This question is not related to the lecture.
It is not possible for me to always see comments on lectures, but I always reply to questions in the Ask the Tutor Forum within 24 hours.
The syllabus will not change until September 2020. Our notes and lectures are up-to-date for the current syllabus and therefore for March 2020.

John,
I just want to say a big THANK YOU to you and other tutors on OpenTuition.com, I started my ACCA exams journey from Malaysia in September 2018, I have passed 5 papers already on self-study only, your lectures are the best! I find your explanations easy to understand, concise and to-the-point. I thank my lucky stars that I discovered OpenTuition just when I needed it, I have saved a lot of money and time, most important of all I passed every exam on first attempt! I will keep at it and aim to complete all ACCA papers by the summer of 2020! I know that all tutors are volunteering their time and resources to help accountant students to succeed. I want to succeed and one day soon I will THANK YOU in person. My immense gratitude to the OpenTuition team.

salmanqsm: That you very much for your comment. It always depresses us that so many people assume that because we do not charge then we can't be good.

Going to appear for June attempt and I can't thank you enough. I heard a lot about you but just ignored it (well because free stuff isn't usually this good lol) until now. It was indeed an interesting start and you explain things so well, better than my experience at ALPs. Thanks so much again! You're doing a great favor to those who can't afford ALPs.

Samuel Koroma: It is dealt with so far as is relevant for Paper FM later in the lectures.
A

A

Thanks John. Interesting start. Those four areas are the core of FM.
One key point in raising long term finance is for the FM to decide the most appropriate sources.
However, you didn't mention the dividend decision which is also key for the FM and is also closely linked to the financing decision.
S

If you are watching our free lectures then you do not really need the Study Text - the lectures are a complete free course and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.
What is essential is the Revision Kit because practice at exam standard questions is vital to passing the exam.
