Ive just turned 30. Ive been doing acca for a good few years but due to work demands ive given it up for a bit but still paying my subs. My job required clients having my mobile number and literally working 7 days a week sometimes 15 hour days!

Ive decided I want to do something for me and im considering either a job break or trying to find something part time as I struggle with working full time and studying (I know plenty of people manage it but I dont find the exams come natural to me and I do struggle)
Has anyone ever given up work to study or is it a terrible idea? I only have 5 exams left so im hoping it wouldnt take too long and my husband can cover bills and we have savings.

Just looking to see if anyone had been in a similar situation.

    Thank you

Hi. I did at the end of 2017 as I knew it wasn’t right for me or my family for me to try and work, study and spend quality time with them. Similarly my husband earns enough that I could and we had saved for a extension which we have put on hold and it’s cash there if needed. Jennie

Thank you! Im just trying to do another month or so to boost our savings that little bit more to prepare and get both cars passed their mot! Im so very nervous to do it but ive tried to study when i get home late at night and i just fall asleep! Big leap of faith but one hopefully that will pay off. Its nice to know someone else has done the same. Are you finding it easier to study at home now your not working?

    Thanks

I only started studying once I left my role. It was similar in that what’s app groups etc meant there was no let up from work. I’ve found it ok, just study when kids at school and then don’t do any at weekends or holidays. Only been doing 1 exam per quarter but with very comfy passes

I work four day weeks, started at three days as I returned after having kids (and being home for years). If you have the experience side already then why not, especially if you can afford it. Plenty of work out there. But there are plenty of full time jobs which don’t impinge so much on work life balance. Most people don’t work crazy hours and take work home.
