it’s going to be my first CBE exam and i was wondering if i have to write down all my working notes separately in the spreadsheet on the exam or the marking person will be able to see my formulas applied and this would be sufficient?
it would be a great waste of time if we have to separately write down the workings literally next to the formula which is basically the same thing!
can someone confirm?

EwaThe examiner can see the formulas so use them as much as you need, just like real life work on Excel. There are videos and often live webinars explaining the functionality of the CBEs which I found helpful, plus you can try them out – all on ACCA study support online.
I did it for PM so expect it’s the same although I’ll be checking out the specific TX resources just to be on the safe side.
You don’t need to worry about formulas. You can use them and the examiner will be able to see them clearly. In fact, allocation of marks will be on the basis of whether or not you have used the correct formula for calculation.
However, some calculations which require greater workings, will have to be separately shown. For e.g car benefit, loan benefit and other benefits will have to be shown separately. As a general rule, calculations which require more than 2-3 lines on paper will have to be worked separately on spreadsheet.
