Forums › ACCA Forums › General ACCA Forums › What kind of experience should i get ?
Hi fellow ACCA students,
I have one more paper (F8) left to complete the F papers. I am working as an accountant in a relatively medium sized company for the past two years. I mainly do receivables and sometimes payables. I dont think i am getting enough experience or exposure. There is definitely no scope for growth here. I will try for another job soon and i am not sure what kind of job i should search for. I will most likely try to get into an audit firm.
So my questions are
1 – Is audit experience vital for an ACCA student ?
2 – What other roles should i look for besides audit so as to get maximum experience/exposure?
Expecting your valuable inputs. 🙂
I am in a similar situation. There is no chance of movement in my role either. As a compromise (and the fact that my employer covers 75% of all course/travel costs I have suggested the option of swapping partial segments of work around. For example: I move the VAT reclaim work to a colleague and they give me the cash forecasting part of their role. My employer likes this idea and I get the chance to cover some PER and get wider experience.
Audit experience is not vital. It makes the F8 paper a little easier but is also super boring..
