In a value chain qs,when we are asked to describe the value chain activities of a company,do we describe the primary activities only or also the support activities?

    Thanks

Well, you will have to decide which one of us to believe.

Sir,when answering such a qs do i integrate the support activities within tge primary activities’ explanation like:
The inbound logistics of X consists of ordering and receiving goods from the supplier which is made easy by the electronic data interchange in place.
    ?

    Thanks

You are talking about linkages and this is an important concept in value chains – how one bit helps another.

In your example, inbound logistics covers only the receipt of goods; ordering is part of procurement.
You point about EDI is fine, but you might also want to mention it in firm infrastructure or technology development as well.
