Question: Which of the following is Not a type of loss usually recoverable under the tort of negligence?
a) Injury
b) Pure economic loss
c) Damage to property
In the above question, I think that tort of negligence perhaps has to do with civil cases only and that all three of them are recoverable through compensation. But this is not the case in the practice kit. Also what does pure has to do with economic loss.
BPP covers this in chapter 7
Pure economic loss is financial loss that is not connected with any physical damage and is rarely recoverable
OK?
If it is not connected with any physical damage, then it might be financial loss which may be recoverable through compensation for damages fairly easily. Then how is it rarely recoverable.
“… not a type of loss usually recoverable under the tort of negligence”
The question mentions nothing about its recoverability under contract
OK?
