Hi
For topic 4 and 5, it states that analyse and evaluate a company which has performed exceptionally poor/well over a 3 year period. Does this 3 year period if submitting for Nov 2023 is last 3 years (2020,2021 and 2022 )July 22, 2023 at 7:05 am #688712You start by looking at the last 3 years of the published accounts and count backwards bearing in mind the 90 day rule. This rule is that the latest published accounts includes any up to 1 August that year for November submissions and 1 February for May submissions. Publishing date is usually the day after they were signed off by the auditors.
You are correct :in most instances it will be 2020, 2021 and 2022, however a listed company with a 31 March year end would be 2021, 2022 and 2023
August 11, 2023 at 12:23 pm #689735So, in my report I need to include quarter ended reports as well?
And when calculating ratios do I calculate for annual reports only so till January 2023?August 13, 2023 at 7:15 pm #689859Not necessarily – The advice above was about Annual Reports. Please consult your mentor about any final details relevant to your particular company
October 10, 2023 at 1:19 pm #693014Sorry, just to clarify. So publishing date is relevant, not year end. So, for example, accounts for year end 31st December for 2020, 2021, 2022 could be used for May 2024 submission in the case that the 2023 accounts were not published (signed off) before 1 February.
What if there is a delay between signing off and publishing publically (or does this never happen in practice)?January 3, 2024 at 5:08 pm #697654AnonymousInactive- Topics: 1

Hi, was hoping for some guidance…
I have picked two companies, both with December year ends. One company will be releasing their YE Dec 2023 accounts on the 31st January, the other won’t be releasing theirs until mid-late February.
What set of accounts am I expected to use for a fair comparison?Company 1 – Dec 21, Dec 22, Dec 23
Company 2 – Dec 20, Dec 21. Dec 22 ?A year difference doesn’t seem very comparable.
Thank you!January 21, 2024 at 7:34 am #698720are there any restrictions for choosing the company for topic 4 and topic 5?
