Forums › OBU Forums › The use of "I" or "the "author" in the RAP, SLS and presentation for period 35
I would like to know whether to use “I” or “the “author” in the RAP, SLS and presentation for period 35?
In the SLS as this is a personal statement writing it in the 3rd person (‘the author’ ) does not sound right. Although t’he author’ is normally used in dissertations and theses, the RAP Research report is not a dissertation nor a thesis and is of a lower level in academic terms, therefore it is not necessary to use it. However it may be used if you like but bear in mind that every time ‘the author’ uses 2 words of the word count whereas of course ‘I’ uses only one. Whatever you use, the same terms in the report and presentation should be adopted for consistency.
Thanks a lot. Really appreciate your help. By the way, I also wanted to know that whether the candidate name should be included in RAP, SLS and presentation for period 35. Since there was a new requirement regarding this in the information pack.
Hi Suezshojib,
The latest infopack advises that you remove your full name from the submission. You should be identified by your ACCA number. If you have not gone through the infopack, I would strongly suggest that you read through it carefully. It will help you avoid some common reasons for failure.
