The new Acca Stategic Business Leader syllabus is going to be huge?

Can someone pass it with 6 months studying and working at the same time or you need more time? from June to December 2018 exam.

Please share your thoughts and any ideas.

    Thank you all.

ACCA have said you should allow more time for studying for SBL than the other exams, but about 50% more, not more than double. It’s perfectly possible to study for other exams in 3 months so I would say 6 months is enough time.

Does the SBL module eliminates P1,P2 and P3 or just P1&P3. That is if i need to write the SBL in september, would i need to write P2 (corporate reporting).

I am confused as to whether P2 still remains compulsory after June 2018.

SBL replaces P1 and P3. Another new exam, SBR, replaces P2.

    Hi,

I live in Spain so I take my exams in a special centre, meaning I can only take exams every 6 months in June and December.

I usually take 2 exams every 6 months.

Given that SBL is now P1 and P3 combined, should I just take SBL on it´s own, or do you think it is possible to take SBL plus 1 other professional exam and be able to study for all within 6 months plus working full time?

    Thanks
    Carly

I don’t think any of us can say with much certainty Carly having not seen the new exam or heard student experiences in studying for it and taking it, and also not knowing you personally.

Your chance of success depends on what other commitments you have in your life, how motivated you are, how hard you work and how quickly you learn.

I’m sure for some people it’s possible to take SBL and another exam and pass them both. You may be one of those people. If you’re up for the challenge you might as well go for it.

That being said I don’t think I would advise someone to take P1, P3 and another exam all together in one session!

I also read that the SBL would require more studying than a normal exam.

But going through the syllabus and been studying for it since the June exam, I just have the feeling it is to a big extent repetition or a summary of other papers.

F1 – Many of the topics were covered here with Porter, Mendelow, PESTEL, manager vs leader etc
    F4 – Governance
    F5+F9 Business analysis and valuation
F8 – Governance, Internal audit, Internal controls

ACCA ethics – From all previous exams and the ethics module

Maybe I´m wrong, but only a few of the topics feel new.

Let´s see how the exam goes.
