I intend to sit for the SBR exam in September 2019.

I have the Kaplan text and revision kit valid till June 2019 and I wanted to know if it was possible to rely on these.

Or has the syllabus changed significantly enough that I’d be better off (and prepared) by getting the updated books?

Can someone please advise me on this?

See the LAST page of the 2019-20 syllabus and the 2019-20 examinable documents – both are available on ACCA’s www.
The main changes are that the Conceptual Framework was published in March 2018 so this is now examinable rather than the ED. (There are also a couple of new EDs relevant to current issues.)
You should therefore regard with caution anything to do with the Conceptual Framework in the books that you have and supplement your studies with relevant reading. See, for example, the FR technical article “Extreme makeover – IASB edition” available here https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/student/exam-support-resources/fundamentals-exams-study-resources/f7/technical-articles.html

Thank you for the response Kim. I had seen the change in the syllabus but wasn’t sure how much impact it would have (a lot, it appears since the Kaplan book begins with the conceptual framework!).

Thank you for the link as well.
