I joined ACCA as a student in March this year (exempt from the first three exams) and am wondering what the best approach is with the extended period up to the September exams.
I was about to take my first exam, paper LW just as the lock down in the UK commenced so have not taken it yet. I then started to study for PM which I have booked in for September. I have lots of time to study as am currently not working due to the lockdown although I am reluctant to take two papers in September as I want to maximize my chances of dong well.
My question is:
Should I
a) Continue preparing for PM (I’m already familiar with syllabus, just need to go through the revision kit) then take a break when lockdown is released to take LW. The problem with this is that I don’t want to finish the revision kit too far in advance before September so that I run out of resources to practice.or
b) Take a break now from PM to read the TX study text with a view to take the TX exam in December, then start the PM revision kit nearer to September. I would take LW as soon as the lockdown is released as above. The issue with this is that it might be a lot of information to take in (three exams worth).
Any advice would be very welcome.
ThanksApril 27, 2020 at 9:21 am #569327Hi Yapok,
I am now also preparing for 2 exams for September. I started with FR, and then I will add FM (once I finish the FR syllabus). I was also thinking about not finishing the revision kit too far in advance (I am using Kaplan materials now), but then I decided that I will just buy another one Revision kit (BPP) to refresh the topics closer to the exam and to use the time now to practise.
I haven’t done LW yet (just skipped it) and made PM, TX, but I believe that LW is a very easy exam according to the pass rates and feedback. So I believe it is worth for you concentrating more on PM (I was writing it in March, and the exam was quite challenging for me, I felt the time preassure first time out of my 5 exams).

Thanks for your reply. Yes from looking at the pass rates it looks like PM is quite challenging so it might be best to just concentrate on that for now. The C section questions will require a lot of practice in particular I’m sure.
Do you know if the Kaplan and BPP revision kits contain different questions? I’m currently using BPP but like you, I may get another revision kit nearer September. I’m aware that Kaplan does not have any additional mocks as it only includes the specimen exam from the ACCA website.
April 28, 2020 at 8:05 am #569399Hi Yapok,
I assume that they both (Kaplan and BPP) contain different materials. The revision kit conists not only of previous exam C question, but also OTs (A and B), hopefully, they are different, even though yes, I believe that there will not be any additional mocks.
But, anyway even if some things will repeat, it will still make sence to go through another book (we will already forget the tasks from the first book, if they are done month or two ago), but for the revision and exam technique training purposes it is still worth doing, I believe.
I have a Revision Kit from Kaplan on PM, we could try to compare somehow;)
