December 21, 2016 at 4:59 pm #364166Hi
I would not recommend IBTC , I self studied for all my exams except the December exam where I used IBTC for p6 (SA variant). I really regretted using them. The study material is outdated and the rates etc were not up to date. The tutors also took a long time to respond. The BPP study material including is brilliant.Unfortunately it is not available for the SA variant of tax.
Regards.
December 22, 2016 at 12:41 pm #364249Thanks, i would love to self study too but i am relying on the bursary to study. I doubt they would allow that. Well done Arishka, were you studying while you are working?

January 16, 2017 at 7:36 am #367343Hi Brenda
I started last year. Considered joining the UNISA/EXP joint programme as I’m an ex-UNISA student. But didn’t get the “right” feeling about the programme. So I ended up self-studying, especially since I’m used to it coming from Unisa.
Search the SAQA listing for the ACCA qualification, they had a list of approved providers there. I think the ACCA website also has a list list.
If you’re used to self-studying it’s not that bad, if you’re not, it will be challenging. Hit up OpenTuition.com. It’s free and some of the video lectures and material really helped me.

February 19, 2017 at 7:59 pm #373199Hello, is anyone currently in South Africa planning to sit the P1,P2 and P3 exams in June?
I need someone to study with we may exchange study patterns and tips etc….February 21, 2017 at 12:19 pm #373479Hi Brenda + others,
Just obtained my membership, I stay in SA, Cape Town.
My addition to the question of study methods / tips:
I personally purchased the BPP study material, and to be honest I did not use all the textbooks. My focus was using opentuition lectures and taking notes. As the lecturers give you insight into real world application which in turn allows you to show this insight in your written exams. (I downloaded these and watched them at 1.4x speed as I didnt have sufficient time to just sit watching videos all day!)
I further made use of both the opentuition Study notes, not to extensively either though. Another focus was examination questions from the BPP revision kit – this is vital to exam preparation, it prepares you for the style and type of questions to expect in the examinations.
I did however make extensive use of the BPP passcards which effectively are summaries/memory cards of the full textbook.
Finally the actual past papers from ACCA were also a must have.
