    Hi,

I had recently qualified as an ACCA Chartered Certified Accountant in December 2019. However when it comes to working in practice i I find it really hard to apply knowledge to practical situations. I confuse myself in audits ( i dont understand what to look for in the tests and i wouldnt know how to create tests from scratch. Baisically i strugglw with the whole audit process as i only been in audit for 1 year. My employer chucked me into deep end expecting me to lead an audit for a brand new client and i had n experience in audit whatsoever. I also struggle quite abit with account reconcilliations and i confuse myself with what to do if client has already given their schedules and working papers etc. My employer always puts more emohasis on my weaknesses on the jobs and rarely praises me for good things. The only good points i get are reharding the admin side to accounts i.e schedules referencing, neat working papers etc.

I feel like im the only qualified accountant that struggles like this and if i apply for less demanding jobs, employers would then say im too over qualified. anyone else in this situation and know how i can overcome this?

Was AAA one of your options?

Even if it was, maybe some refresher would give you more confidence

The member price for course and assessment for this certificate has recently been discounted by nearly 40% (and you can claim CPD for it). Access to the course is for 6 months so you will be able to use it for reference even if you pass the assessment in a shorter time – or you don’t need to take the assessment – just use the course as a resource.

Hi. Yes i did do AAA. But like i said i only had 1 year of practical experience in audit and i feel i should have been shadowing an experienced auditor for that time instead of doing it mostly myself. I believe i would have been in a better position now if this was the case. I also struggle with reconciling balance sheet items. I confuse myself with what the client has done with particular postings. I have the knowledge but i feel like there are some gaps to fill or maybe i need more shadowig in general with these things but once you become qualified employers generally leave you to it.

Hey! Sorry to hear you’ve been struggling.
Can I ask where were you training whilst studying ACCA?
