Which of the following statement(s) is/are true about an integrated software system?

    (1) All functions are included in one single accounting module so an integrated system uses less memory
    (2) All accounting modules are linked so that data can pass from one to another as needed
    (3) Reports can be requested that pick out relevant information from each accounting module as needed
    (4) Integrated systems often have fewer facilities than a set of individual modules

    A 1and2only
    B 3and4only
    C 2,3and4only
    D 1,2,3and4

Can you please help with this question? I do not understand it

An integrated accounting system means all parts of the system are linked. Entering a transaction will accomplish the Dr, Cr in the financial records and will update the costing records.

Statement 1: Integrated/non-integrated says nothing about the use of computer memory, so answers A and D are incorrect.

Statement 2: Correct and is almost a definition of ‘integrated’.

Statement 3: Correct because all the accounting records are present in one system and so lots of reports on different aspects of finance can be generated.

Statement 4: Incorrect. As said above, there are facilities to generate lots of reports.

Therefore, answer should be Statement 2 and Statement 3……but that’s not an option!

Do the answers not give a justification?

I have been through the ACCA FA1 on-lines specimen paper and can’t see this question.

Thank you for all the explanation. Unfortunately, I could not find the answers to this paper as well (it is a specimen paper from Sept 2019) that is why I thought to ask help.

So, according to you the only correct statements must be 2 and 3 right?

Yes. But the question material has nothing to do with the FA1 syllabus. No IT is there.
