SLS and presentation queries

About the presentation slides...I dont think there is a prescribed number, however, I had 23. This is including the starting slide.

I failed my RAP dur to failing in SLS. MY examiner comments are as follows: Research Report Technical and Professional Skills 1. Understanding of accountancy/business models Pass 2. Application of accountancy/business models Pass 3. Evaluation of information, analysis and conclusions Pass 4. Presentation of project findings Pass Overall Technical and Professional Skills Pass Graduate Skills 5. Communication Pass 6. Information gathering and Referencing Pass 7. Information Technology Pass Overall Graduate Skills Pass Overall Research Report Assessment B Skills & Learning Statement Graduate Skills 8. Self Reflection Pass 9. Communication Skills (inc Presentation) Fail Reasons for fail and advice for improvement: You fail in this section as you have delivered a presentation which contains no information about the performance of your organisations performance against the comparator. As it is essential to do this in the RAP it is also essential to demonstrate the results of your in the presentation. The Examiner Has Told, You Did Not Present The Performance Of your Organization Against Competitor. You Have To Use Latest 3 Financial Years Info In " TOPIC 8 "

but my Research is passed. How can I use latest information as presentation based on reseach report and my Research report is already pass. Where can i get exact info

So, include the competitor performance in the power point presentation. If that is what examiner meant.

You do not need the latest financial statements, as you already passed ur RAP. What the marker meant is that u did not include info concerning the performances of the organisation used against its competitor. What u need to do right now is to include the info you used in ur RAP also in ur presentation. You can present ur ratio in form of graph or table and you do not need to include comments as u can do that verbally during presentation. Gud luck.

Hi friends, My mentor is based in a different country than me. We have been communicating mostly on email and Whatsapp. We agreed to do the final presentation on Skype... Looking through the SLS exemplars, as an answer to 1st question, we need to describe regarding meetings with mentor... however when no meeting has taken place, how to document it? Please advice. Thanks!

My mentor also belongs to different country but i did not mentioned this in SLS while there is no need to mentioned this. You need to write the details about your meeting not how does this meetings has been set (skype or face to face) and same with the presentation. You need to write what did you learn from presentation like improved communication, body language and blah blah blah.. remember you have to asnwer the question about what did you LEARNED from meetings not how does they was arranged.

Good points @Handsome- as you say the focus should be on learning - what you learned, new skills and how such techniques helped you achieve your objectives etc. What you don't do is focus on what happened and what you or your mentor did or said. This is supposed to be a self-reflective statement not a diary or witness statement of what took place.

Hi, Wanted to ask if its mandatory for the answers to be between 350 to 650 words each? Can one answer be around 320 words and still pass? All other answers are in the word limit and total is 2000 words as required. Thanks!

At least 320 words per question. However it is the quality of the self-reflection that matters not the number of words. 500 words of waffle for each question would fail whereas 320 - 650 of decent evaluation should pass.

If you passed both the self-reflection and Presentation then no you don't. Otherwise if you only passed the SLS then you will need to upload it and also if you changed company or topic but did not pass both sections 8 and 9.

I am confused. i just did the 4 question answering of SLS and i was just checking the ACCA website and it says that SLS should be a 2000 word assessment from Nov 16 submission onwards but the new Info Pack still asks to answer the 4 questions. Which one to follow?

Confused? So am I :-) !!! However I have been told by OBU that either are acceptable (but I think they have dropped the idea of the essay). So no one should worry provided the SLS is packed with self-reflection (not a 'diary' of what you and the mentor said and did) - how you were affected and built on your personal strengths and overcame your weaknesses for example it should be fine. So chill baby, chill! :-D -and good luck!

Hey!! my SLS words as per MS word count were 2002, I had reduced them but forgot to save the file. So, on the basis of two excessive words will my SLS be failed?

I need some help on my SLS (Reflection) When answering the 4 questions I need to write in 1st person right? Also, do i need to put references in the Word Document, for example what is communication or write everything by myself on my personal strengths and overcoming weaknesses? Thank you!

Yes the SLS should be written in the first person. Normally unless you are referring to a specific document/ piece of research there would be nothing to reference It is an assessment of your learning and development experience of the challenges presented and how you built on your personal strengths and overcame weaknesses. Emphasis on assessment and evaluation i.e. it is not a description of what you did but rather it's importance in your development skills.
