Financial Gearing

From: Capital structure and financial ratios › 2 Financial Gearing

Hi, the statement of financial position normally states the value of the ordinary shares and the number in a note or a separate line. In example 2 it says Ordinary Shares (10c) 10000.

I assumed 10k was the total value of the shares that have a 10c nominal value each, but it was the number of shares. What can I look out for to spot if the 10000 is the value or the number, in other exercises?

Thank you for your time!
