Hello Sir!
This is regarding the CIMA paper (Sept 2013) we did in class as part of revision towards ACCA exams.
This question no.6 involves vertical consolidation (AZ,B & C as the parent,subsidiary & sub-subsidiary respectively).
My question is: How do you account for the last note which says, “The balance on ‘other reserves’ for both AZ and B relate to movements in the values of their investments in B and C respectively?”
Do we deduct the other reserves amount (3 for AZ and 2 for B) from the investments provided ($68m for B and $38 for C)?
And the other reserves figures should not be included in Net Assets calculation, right?
Thank you.
Hi,
It is effectively saying that the movement in the other reserves is due to the change in value of the investment, presumably as it FVTOCI. Given we remove the investment on consolidation, we also remove any movement on it.
Thanks
