Hi,
I’m a full time self study student. I haven’t gone for any revision course neither have I gone for any tuition course. I am sitting F8 in June 2014. I seldom have access to the internet and we can’t download F8 lectures for OT so I’ve not watched a single F8 lecture of OT. I simply just have past exam papers and marking schemes and answers from the ACCA website downloaded on my machine.
All I do is look at a question, look at an answer (well I study it very carefully and reach each line like 2 – 3 times) and try to memorize/remember what I’ve read. Is this OK? Will this technique grant me a pass?
Well, I’ve got the examiner’s trail in deficiencies questions and substantive procedures. I.e. I’ve got her thought process and I usually have similar ideas. But I’m very worried that this only will not grant me a pass. Is there a chance of passing like this?
Also, I do the same for F9 (however, there Mr. Moffat has said that my technique would be “sensible”) so is it the same case for F8?
I usually access OT through the cyber cafe as I live in a third wold country.
Thanks,
Gabriel.
April 25, 2014 at 5:29 pm #166303Certainly, doing questions and analysing the answers carefully is of vital importance and could well lead to success.
You should be able to download the OT lecture notes to give the theoretical background and knowledge.
April 25, 2014 at 6:28 pm #166308I’m in the same situation as you. However I’ve bought a study text and exam kit as the past papers don’t keep up with modifications in the syllabus and any changes in the manner in which the questions are asked. The official kits are updated, that’s why you’ll see ‘suitable up to june 2014 exams’ for example. The study text of OP is a valuable tool so maybe you would just need an official exam kit.
