Hey mike,
Hope you are good…
ACCA have lifted the restriction on the first 15 min of the exams so now you can do whatever you want with that time.
Should we start writing right away or will it be a blunder to do so ?
And also does Brexit have any effect on ACCA?
Regards

May 21, 2016 at 6:14 pm #316257Just an advice from a student to student,
If you are on F series, Do MCQ’s shadding takes time LOL.
If P series then read eassays/scenarios carefully and think. Starting immediately can, you know, poor planning poor answers.
Rest depends on individual Candidate.
No hard Rule.Regards
May 21, 2016 at 6:15 pm #316259and the limit will be lift from September not June.
May 21, 2016 at 6:34 pm #316263Thank you Ehsan, and congratulations on your promotion to ACCA Tutor status.
Oh …. wait a minute! You aren’t are you?
But that post from Sidhil was addressed to me so, what’s happening?
Sidhil, the scrapping of the 15 minutes when-you-can’t-write-in-your-answer-book is only effective from September so June is still the old rule
And a HUGE emphatic NO! You plan first, for every question.
You do NOT start writing answers until your answer has been properly planned
May 23, 2016 at 4:13 pm #316284I was under the misconception it was also in June…
Thank god i asked this here or would have gone under a different mindset.
With 15 mins i usually plan a bit of all questions. You can chose to plan question by question basis also. I was sure about planning but wasn’t about when or how…..
Like always Mike solves the problems..
See you
May 24, 2016 at 6:59 am #316741Thank you Ehsan, and congratulations on your promotion to ACCA Tutor status.
Oh β¦. wait a minute! You arenβt are you?
But that post from Sidhil was addressed to me so, whatβs happening?- its not fair Mike π You are insulting a student.
May 24, 2016 at 8:05 am #316766I see no insult! That question WAS addressed to me. Would you appreciate it if I started writing responses to emails that were addressed to you?
May 24, 2016 at 8:47 am #316778i know you are right. but ignore them. instead of saying all that. students love to read your answers. so posts from other students doesn’t mean for us.
as you always say!!! move on
Mike what question should attempt first in exam. start from the easiest e.g Ethics question
or start from question 1 the lengthiest.????
and what is the easy way to select 1 question from 2 questions (optional 3rd and 5th question of part B). (as i will must attempt ethics question that will be question 4)… it took much time to select between the 2.May 24, 2016 at 10:21 am #316798“what question should attempt first in exam. start from the easiest e.g Ethics question
or start from question 1 the lengthiest.????”There’s no right answer to this – certainly no definitive answer.
Whatever floats your boat. Some would prefer a 25 marker to start where others would prefer the 50 marker
It’s entirely a matter for personal preference so I can’t help you here
I can say that, if it were me, I would start with a small marker, move on to questions 1 and 2 and finish with a small marker. I would use this approach so that if, in the adrenalin fuelled first half hour or so, I made an enormous gaff the most marks I could lose would be 20 whereas if I made a complete Hank Borlicks of question 1 then I could be in trouble
But I was always very strict with myself with sticking to time allocation so I always managed to attempt every part of every question – whether I knew anything about the subject matter or not!
“and what is the easy way to select 2 questions from 3?” (I’ve adapted your question because not everyone will select the ethics option)
Read the requirements for all three option questions and select your 2 from that initial read through
Then read the full question for the one that you have discarded! There may be something in there that you can use in an answer to one of the other 4 questions
Hope that helps
May 24, 2016 at 11:55 am #316811Thankyou Mike.
May 24, 2016 at 12:12 pm #316814You’re welcome
