What is the best way to quote a case name?
As per ….
as seen in…..Can we use shortnened names eg Fisher v Bell can be quoted as Bells case?
Thanks
May 27, 2010 at 9:20 pm #60966We were told that you do not need to know the case name. Of course it will help, but it is the ratio decidendi that earns you the mark. In such a situation you can start your sentence “In a decided case…”.
e.g. In a decided case it was held that the display of goods in a shop display is not an offer. It is merely an invitaion to treat.
Hope that helps.

It is really helpful information. At first, I think i need to quote full case name such as “Fisher v Bell”. In stead, i can just say “In decided case…”. It is hard to quote full case name because I can’t remember some of them even i can remember the case scenarios.
