We were told that you do not need to know the case name. Of course it will help, but it is the ratio decidendi that earns you the mark. In such a situation you can start your sentence “In a decided case…”.

e.g. In a decided case it was held that the display of goods in a shop display is not an offer. It is merely an invitaion to treat.

    Hope that helps.

but nice if you can quote the case name – even just one of the parties – “In Bell’s case “

but nice if you can quote the case name – even just one of the parties – “In Bell’s case ” or “In the flick knife case…” but “in a decided case ….” is sufficient

It is really helpful information. At first, I think i need to quote full case name such as “Fisher v Bell”. In stead, i can just say “In decided case…”. It is hard to quote full case name because I can’t remember some of them even i can remember the case scenarios.
