Why do you say that the answer in the book is completely different? The answer has done it the normal way and the answer is 4 cents different from your answer - that is a rounding difference and is irrelevant.

oh okay so is my answer correct ? As it says periodic weighted average cost , I was assuming there was another way to calculate it.

Yes, it is correct which is what I wrote before!!! Nobody cares about 4 cents out of over $2,000 :-)
