Hey,
I use the exact whole pv factors on my calculator using the powers, but often in the answer key there’s difference due to them using the 3 d.p factor from the tables……
I want to know in case we get a blank as otq ques, what is preferable?
I’m so used to calculating it all on calculator w/o referring to tables and I doubt if such a ques shows up as a blank mcq i might lose marks.
You can either use the tables or your calculator (provided obviously that your calculator does not display text but only numbers) – although, certainly for annuities, I think it is faster to use the tables – especially since part of the problem in the exam is the time pressure.
To avoid the problem of rounding differences, OT questions in the exam will ask for an answer to the nearest $100 or to the nearest $1,000 so you will be round your answer anyway 🙂
