    Hello
I hope that you are well…

    I have 3 questions:

1-who is the benefit owners(can we say they are somehow the same as shareholders but for a project ie they have authority to make decisions for the project but do not involve in operationall run of the project)?

2-who is the project managers(can we say they are somehow the same as Board of director but for a project ie they operationally run and manage the project)?

3-who is the project sponsor(is he the person who provide capital for the project)?what are the responsibilities of a project sponsor?what are the differences between the project sponsor and project owner?

    Thanks in advance

Benefit owner: the person responsible for delivering the benefit. So if a new web-site were being designed, some one would be responsible for ensuring that orders received over the Web resulted in efficient despatch of goods. That person might be located in the warehouse.

Project manager: the person in charge of the project team, usually lower than the board. The team is tasked with the implementation of the project (and might report to the board). The project managers and team are delegated by the board to handle the project.

Project sponsor: the person behind the project and who decides what the project should do. Often the project sponsor will be responsible for finding funding for the project.

Therefore with regard to the new web site, the project sponsor might be the marketing director who sees the need for a better web presence and for on-line ordering. A hands-on project team and project manager are responsible for implementing the project to the sponsor’s requirements. Various people, the benefit owners, will then be responsible for ensuring that the claimed benefits are realised..
