Hello.
I hope that you are wellMy question is about POPIT model.as you said in your notes,it is an approach to business change in which 4 elements should be considered.my question is about these 4 elements.is it correct to say:
1-Organization(you said in your notes we should consider capabilities and structure.does it mean we should consider whether we have money, manpower
,informatinon, skills ,… for change?what do you mean by structure?should we evaluate cost and benefit(the same as what we do for project)here?2-Process(is the change operationally feasible?analyse how it(change) will add value (or destroy) the business processes and value chain?)
3-People(you said in your notes we should consider roles, job descriptions, competences, motivation, culture and rewards.what does it mean?
should we consider risk, return and stakeholders(like acceptability in SAF)or it is enough to analyse how the change will affect different stakeholders(ie only stakeholder in SAF) and their(employees, shareholderd,…) reactions to change and there is no need to calculate ratios which we usually use for risk and return (such as liquidity,ROCE,…)?)4-IT(is the change technically feasible?do we have enough software(and maybe hardware),IT infrastructure for change or not?)
Im sorry if the question becomes too long but this is because there is no article and prior questions about it and there is only 1 page about it in your notes.
Thank you
March 9, 2016 at 8:17 am #304649POPIT is little more than a list of things to consider when you are plannng a business change:
1 – In POPIT the O for organisation is referring to structure. DO we have the correct shape and spready of power? Should be be divisionalised or even outsource.
2 – Processes – consider the processes in the organisation. Are they correct to create a good value chain. How should goods be received and stored? Should we accept orders over the Internet?
3 – People – you need the right ones with the right skills. Not really to do with external stakeholders.
4 – IT – you need the correct systems.
Feasibility does not really come into POPIT though ultimately it is important.
