Scored 61% first attempt. I've passed all papers at first attempt so I'm now an ACCA Affiliate. Good job, everyone x

Failed first attempt with 41. Not surprised cause I messed up the first question. Still was hoping for a miracle I guess....Anyway never lose hope! Try again in June - better luck next time!

Passed with a dead 50% first time which is amazing saying I dropped loads on that 1st question about army tank things, I think my saving grace must have been the 4 marks for using report format and that I said I assume something and then carried on with some analysis even though I did no calculations. Other than that I beleive the ACCA had to do some manipulation of the marking scheme for this paper, nevermind I passed onwards with the other remaining few now

I believe every student who attempted the last examination studied very well, the only difference comes from the effectiveness of revision techniques ( passive reading does not work!). From my own personal survey, I discovered that all past questions on P5 are now irrelevant except for the last two diets ( which the examiner also emphasized in his article). They are only useful for time trial and not model of expected examination questions.

Another issue is that no single study text has enough information required to score so high in the examination, but they offer what is needed to pass ( this is in my own opinion) therefore, you need to read wide.

Divide the syllabus into parts of related topics and adopt an integrated approach ( always investigate how the various topics are related), if you like notes, develop one for yourself (I'm saying this because I am a self study student) and above all, always write mock exams ( not just one!) and mark it objectively. I did mine and the range of my scores was between 75 and 85 so I already know the range of my result ( it works for me all the time and it should work for you if you do it objectively).

I hope you find something useful in this and discover the missing link.

How did you people get your results? I am yet to get mine. I have been checking my inbox again and again.

passed with 57% !!! Finally I am acca affiliate!!!Hope everyone is doing well.
Former userFormer user14y ago#24
Hhmmmm, something odd here.

Failed @ 37%.

This doesnt add up, I was happy with the exam, and confident of a pass.

I suspect an error of some kind. Maybe only 1 booklet marked, or something. I think ill be getting a review.

Not a surprise for me to fail for a second time... my first question was an armagedon for me... lol
Best luck next time I hope

Dead on 50. Second attempt. I am now affilliate! I wanted to cry straight after the exam, I was so frustrated with Q1. I am now so happy!!
Concrats to everyone who passed, commiserations to failed. Better luck next time!! (because there is massive piece of luck required in this exam).

Passed with 51% and highly greatful. I wasn't too sure since I had messed up Q1. To all who passed, congrats and to those who failed........dont stop trying, just embrace your failure like your successess and move forward. Blessings to all.
Oomerpk14y ago#30
First of all congrats to all the people who passed and good luck to the rest of us in June '12.

Flunked with a 42. Actually due to work constraints all I did was do some reading from the text on the key topics as per the tips, read through some mocks and all of the tech articles. So I had no reasonable gounds for expecting a pass.

However I would appreciate guidance from the people who have passed with flying colours [with marks in the 70s and above] as to how one should go about studying for a good pass mark in P5. I'd just like to clarify I didn't do F5 due to exemptions so I didn't have the prior knowledge and should I try to start from F5 this time round?

Thanks
