General ACCAPaper combination

Former userFormer user5y ago
I failed FR in December attempt(it was my fault as i was not prepared for the exam) I want to appear for FR and FM papers in june. I need advice from my seniors. First, will it be a good combination? Is it a wise decision, if I spare 5 hours to study everyday , to go for both papers in 3 months? If yes, what material to use for preparation? Any tips or advices from seniors who have passed both will be welcomed. Thanks

You may be interested to see in this survey (with old exam labels) that FR (F7)/FM (F9) that both FR/AA (F8) and AA/F9 are considered better choices. https://opentuition.com/acca/which-is-the-best-acca-papers-combination/comment-page-24

If you refer to the survey that Kim Smith has recommended, you will see that F7 and F8 (FR and AA) are the most popular combination. IMO this may be because FR is more a 'calculation-intense' exam, while AA is a lot of theoretical application (written elements). This may offer a better balance for you, rather than doing two calculation-based exams (FR and FM). Of course it's possible to do any combination; the above is just a recommendation. To complete it in 3 months - that's heavily dependent on how much you already know and how quickly you can grasp both subjects. I suggest browsing through the syllabus to get a feel for each subject and then make the choice for yourself. Best to start studying asap. For materials, I'll recommend the exact materials that I used for these exams: - the OT lectures and notes (helps you grasp calculation methods and to understand topics) - up-to-date BPP practice and revision kit (to apply what you've learnt in exam-standard questions)

Thankyou so much for guiding me. I am going to be a full time student for these papers. So i was hoping if i can easily do it or not. But still it looks like a difficult job.

Go for FR and AA, follow opentution lecture notes and Thier videos, practice the exam kits and you are good to go.

I appeared for AA in march 2021 exam sessions.

FR and FM is good combination.. since you are already familiar with FR you can add a new paper with it like FM. but i highly suggest you to evaluate your self with FM before you register for exams..FM is mostly theories with a bit of maths. ... i personally think studying everyday for 5 hours is enough provided you are motivated and practice the past papers as much as you can. best of luck.
