Dear OT, Could you please explain to me how the suggested answer on Q.1b arrived at the 8 hours for machine time per day for standard windows and 6 hours for Bespoke windows. My understaing is that there is maximum 9 hour production time in the day, so standard windows should be (10mins set up + 4 hours production + 20min set down + another 4 hours production to utilize out 9 hour maximum hours in the day) = 8hours 30 mins Kindly help me to understand how they have arrived at their effective machine time per day for both standard and bespoke windows in their solution. Thank you.

Thank you Ken. From your analysis below standard production run should be 9 hours (4.5hours * 2times ina day) And Bespoke should be 9 hours (3hours * 3 times in day) why does the solution allude to 8 hours for standard and 6 hours for bespoke? Am I missing something? Please help a confused student. Thank you. Standard: 1 production run: set-up 10 mins, run for 4 hours, set-down 20 mins = 4.5 hours. This can be done twice in a 9 hour day so the total set-up and set-down times would be 2 x (10 mins + 20 mins) = 1 hour. Bespoke: 1 production run: Set-up 15 mins, run for 2 hours, set-down = 45 mins = 3 hours. This can be done three times in a 9 hour day so the total set-up and set-down times would be 3 x (15 mins + 45 mins) = 3 hours

Standard: 9 hours per day less 1 hour setup/set down leaves 8 hours for production. Bespoke: 9 hours per day less 3 hours setup/set down leaves 6 hours for production.
