AFMNew changes to June 2013 exams

HHhamdy hafez13y ago
I’ve entered p4 exam last Dec 2011 & didn’t clear the exam(fail)
& I ask if there’s any changes on the P4 syllabus, as I just have materials valid to Dec 2011 exams
Thanks for help

I have much the same problem. I purchased P4 study material in 2011 and did not write then or in 2012. Has the syllabus changed for the June 2013 sitting? Do I need to purchase new study materials?

There is a change in the Exam setting for June 2013 which you need to be aware of. Qn 1 will be 50 Marks and the other three Qns will be for 25 marks each.

Dear beyagala thanks for reply but we ask about changes on the syllabus (Islamic finance, ...etc)

I have found the answer to our question about changes in the syllabus at https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/acca/global/PDF-students/acca/p4/studyguides/p4-Syll%20and%20SG%202013.pdf. Go to page 13 where a summary of the changes to the syllabus are described. Looking at the changes shown here I think that I will have to buy the new study guide and revision kit. It doesn’t look like one should use the older material any longer.

I think the only changes (comparing with June 2011) are the area of "Developments in Islamic finance" any keep in touch as we can buy the EWP (text & revision) e-book & we can share our materials h.hafez23@gmail.com

My lecturer from Kaplan, Singapore The lecture and revision notes from Dec2012 can be used for self study with the following syllabus changes: - addition of Islamic finance - removal of portfolio theory 2-asset formula - In your lecture ‘Treasury function’ is removed from P4 and is now assumed knowledge for F9. Exam structure changes: Section A – one compulsory question 50 marks Section B – choose 2 out of 3 questions each worth 25 marks Raymond, singapore

thanks a lot Dear Raymond but I didn't find any reference confirm the removal of portfolio theory 2-asset formula (look examiner syllabus 2013) also he referred to other amendments; - Single period and multi-period capital rationing - Risk adjusted discount rates - Apply asset based, income based and cash flow based models to value equity any way we need to keep in touch next days (for sharing our materials & info) just after we know exam results to decide our new papers :( :( Hamdy

Dear all. it is confirmed that the portfolio theory 2 asset formula had been removed. you look at the recent formulas in P4.

Hello, just wanted to confirm then Examples 4 and 5 in the OT course notes for P4 2013 (pages 37-38) are no longer relevant? Cheers.

Er, sorry, examples 4 and 5 of chapter 9 'Portfolio Theory'. If so, I presume then the section on 'Covariance' is also no longer applicable? Cheers.

my lecturer from Kaplan comment that Portfolio theory is not examinable. Hurray. islamic finance may be tested on section A talking about source of finance and its benefits and limitation.

Islamic Finance- Shouldnt the OT the notes and the technical article cover the basics of this topic?
Ccathyf713y ago#16
I think technical article will give sufficient knowledge of Islamic Finance https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/acca/global/PDF-students/2012s/sa_feb13_p4_islamic.pdf together with OT notes.
