Hello Sir .,
I am a bit confused in the marking scheme for AAA questions . Generally if a question asked to discuss something is it worth 1 mark or 1.5 mark ?
Because in 12/06 NorthWest company 1 mark per discussion but in question 15/06 AderGroup Q2b it worth 1.5 per discussion .
Is the marking scheme become different if for example the examiner asks :
1) discuss the matter
2) discuss why
3) discuss the implication
4) discuss the responsibilities….
etcThanks in advance
July 9, 2020 at 1:29 pm #576421I suggest you refer to the “starred” sticky posts at the top of this forum “Looking for guidance on marking? Read the mind of an AAA marker” and “How to tackle the AAA exam” – both provide insights into marking. Nowadays most ACCA marking schemes deal with whole marks and the general rule “1 mark per relevant point” is as good as any. But if a requirement is to evaluate a risk, for example, you cannot answer that in a sentence. So you will see, for example, that a marking scheme says “up to 3 marks for each risk evaluated” – i.e. 3 sentences.
I suggest you refer also to more recent marking schemes of the current AAA exam/examining team – “up to 1 mark” means that the marker can give 1/2 marks (“partial credit”) where a point hasn’t been sufficiently well made.
