Hello folks,
I thought I’d kickstart a thread for those who were unsuccessful this session to help garner motivation and drive to pick ourselves up, dust down and keep on keeping on.
So, let’s start off with your scores and what are the possible mistakes you made during this session.
For me, this was my final paper and I scored 36. To be honest although distraught and disappointed I didn’t feel very confident coming out of that hall. I really didn’t expect to pass. – I was unable to write a single word for Q2. So that put me already on 75%.
– Q1, because at the last minute -due to exam tension, I forgot my calculator. So I was just panicky when I was attempting the question. I was all over the place.
– To top it off, I didn’t practice with the revision kit. This is actually the first time this has happened because it has been almost 10 years since my last sit, and I completely underestimated the rigour of the ACCA exams. In all it would have been an unusual win if I ended up passing. So now I am really looking forward to correcting these mistakes and getting a proper score in June.
April 20, 2017 at 8:10 am #382785Hi
This is my last paper and I got 39! I’m not getting anywhere with this paper so not going to sit it in June. I’ll go on the BPP course and sit it properly in September.
April 20, 2017 at 8:19 am #382791This to was my last exam and I failed again (3rd time!) with 46.
I have always found the audit papers tricky and there’s a certain technique to it. I have booked onto the question day with Kaplan so fingers crossed that helps!April 20, 2017 at 5:25 pm #382881oh ok. That gives good time to prepare. Wish you the best with it.
April 20, 2017 at 5:26 pm #382882oh no. That’s not great!! What’s the question day?? And what technique do you know of for the audit papers??
May 3, 2017 at 5:15 pm #384743It is my final exam and under the 7 year rule I must take it in June. In March I took it for the first time and I failed with 41 points. When I finished the exam I was thinking there is a chance for me to pass, but that did not happen. 🙁
I have not been studying for some time now for ACCA exams – 7yrs passed since last exams taken, so I need help- if and where the questions and results of P7 March 2017 session are posted, as i dont seem to be able to find in on acca web site. I found only examiners report. Thank you for answers.
Wish you all the best in next session , I will for sure need some luck, as otherwise will loose also my other exam passes.May 8, 2017 at 6:06 pm #385394I was unsuccessful by just 3 marks for the second time. Anyone remembers what topics were in the March Exam. I want to plan my reading better to re sit in June. Please help
May 9, 2017 at 12:51 pm #385487Oh that’s rank! Hope you make it over the finish line this time!
I have completely ditched my text. Relying on open tuition video lectures, notes and revision kit. No sense using the text as it gets too carried-away and isn’t much help this close to the exams.

hi
i am affiliate with p6 p7 main technique behind P7 is technical and simple knowledge like if there is issue in revenue recording than explain its effect track down to debits and credits. Also follow Bpp book especially section D cuz in bpp they explain standards according to Audit and practice past papers as much as you can Never Give up never Surrender.July 19, 2017 at 2:31 pm #397579I wrote P7 and P5, time was not an issue on P7 and I was hoping for a marginal pass but I got 46. I passed P5 which I thought it was a definite fail since I did not attempt 20 marks. and failed P7 with 46%.
My financial reporting is very rusty, if I polish that I will have a better chance of passing.
Good luck everyone in the September exams.
July 19, 2017 at 5:34 pm #397625Hi everyone. Thought i would share my experience.
I failed P7 with 36% but i also failed P2 with 36% back in March.
These are my final two papers.
The mark i failed by actually gives me something to work with. Clearly i have a poor understanding of the two papers and they are both closely linked.
So my plan is to step back and review the corresponding F papers then attempt the P paper work.
I have studied the books and watched the lectures but still i performed badly infact there were times i looked at questions when practising and felt blank. But thats ok. I appreciate that and will use it to help me go forward.
Possible approach. Work for P2 in Sept and P7 in Dec or do both in one sitting, likely December now. Exams are money after all i want the best outcome possible!!
Its exciting, though stressful, but what will we do when done?!?. 🙂

July 21, 2017 at 3:26 pm #397953From someone that has passed P7 and is an ACCA member, I would recommend doing section B FIRST and then doing the section A Q1 LAST. This will stop you from spending too much time on Q1 and then worrying about answering the other 3 questions in very little time. Remember Q1 is only 35 marks whereas the other 3 are worth a total of 65 marks. I was taught at a well known school in London for P7 and was taught this method of answering P7.
August 8, 2017 at 7:27 pm #401071I got 49% in June. What a painful result that was.
My problem was time I think. I left question 1 until the end and ran out of time. I must have lost about 15 marks from unanswered parts of the question.
I think I could also have joined the dots a bit better between the key facts in the situation presented and further implications, eg if one representation presented by management proves to be false, what does this mean about the rest of information presented by them? It should all be reviewed again and investigated.
There is scope for lateral thinking in this exam and also making sure each point is considered from the perspective of impact on the audit opinion.

August 23, 2017 at 12:38 pm #402982I finally passed on second sitting. I look back on this and I can give a few pointers on how I went about it. This worked for me. My advice –
1. Pick up your F7 Financial Reporting Text and make sure you understand it comprehensively. Actually take time to work through the examples. It will make you so much stronger. P2 is just an extra because it looks at group consolidations which you can honestly still pass without. If you can confidently answer F7 questions (the examinable standards) then I think you are half way there because the accounting treatments become easy and that’s where the magic really is.
2. The other thing is to understand the difference between procedure and evidence. This part is another core area. Procedure is a verb. So your response should be along the lines of analysing, reviewing, recalculating, inspecting, observing. Whereas evidence is around the document to be assessed e.g bank statement, title deeds, land certificates, etc. They are linked but make sure if a question asks you for one then ensure you are using the right approach.
3. Also read on ethics and practice management too i.e. quality control and engagement acceptance.
4. Lastly, read on your audit report and group audit.
5. If you find time to read on other assurance services then you are set.I wish you all the best. When you eventually pass you will forget the hard work. The joy will be worth it. All the best guys.
