This one is all about exam technique. Try to train yourself to focus on what's asked and link to specific examples in the case. There's no new knowledge from PM and SBL so just focus on the questions. There's a guy called Steve Mills I think who has some great videos on YouTube on exam technique for APM.

Failed at 45. First attempt. Sick of this.

Struggled with ATX and couldn't clear in 3 attempts. Switched to APM in this session and cleared it first time with 50 as my last exam. I couldn't ask for more than that, as I needed just a pass to close this ACCA journey that has locked up my life for 2.5 years. Thank you Lord??

Congratulations to all who passed. This has been a Brickhill for me to complete my qualification. I got 46 first attempt, 47 second and third attempt and now when I thought it was over I got 49. I tried to change approaches but still it is not working. Any advice folks? I wanted to change the option but my family said it is better to deal with the devil I know but I feel like the devil I know keeps on changing.

Failed 49 for the second time really at a loss with this exam it’s my last exam ?

I was thinking to change the option aswell but I'm not sure at this point.

I think I will make a switch. I just want to finish this qualification

Pass with the grace of God Almighty. I would suggest every body who failed to stick to the option and please study the bbp text which will enhance your understanding and then do question practise. I passed it fourth time. When you understand a topic deeply then its application becomes easy.

Failed at 46 on 4th attempt, I am convinced APM is all about abstract theory, vague embedded requirements, non-sense calculations and utter useless models that are of Zero Value tested like rocket science is beyond comprehension. Completely devastated, thank you ACCA for parting with depression at Strategic Level...

In the contrary, I found APM and SBL more practical than other strategic papers. One can directly envisage it's applicability and practicality in his/her company/organisation.With ATX, I cramming nonsense legislation that won't last even for three years without being replaced. Watch Steve Willis YouTubes on exam technique. As for me, I didn't waste too much time ready the study text, as I have realised from other papers that understanding the theory alone won't help, till one masters how to apply them. This means I spent 10% of my text just browsing the text, and 90% used in practicing questions. I had no bpp or kapplan study text, watched opentuition and a YouTube videos. I read more about theories just by googling on internet. This is all I can share to encourage future students of APM.

I agree with a lot of your comments made. I tried implementing the same techniques by using browsing on Google for theories/models. However I ended with up with 46. My other attempts before lasts sittings have been 48, 48. I even got friends/family to mark my script. Not sure what else I can do. I have also been watching Steve Willis videos and is very effective as this subject is exam technique I have exhausted all the questions on Bpp and Kaplan Can you elaborate what exactly you browsed for on Google in relation to the models?? How did you use it to practice questions?

Folks for all the first time passers who scored 60's and above , what is the key in applying to the scenario ? I am baffled because I do know most of the concepts and models in this paper yet end up on high 40's fail..

Last time I got 49 and I was gutted. This time I got 64 and I could not believe it! I am finally qualified! Thank you OT as I would not be here without you.

Passed first time, keep going it will happen for sure. My main advice is please aim your answers to the question scenario and explain. Ther markers want to see your apporach to a real life example and how you can help. If you do this your on your way to a pass.

Hi eibhlinmc To be honest I did not change my approach at all. I tried to better manage my time but as always time was never enough when you were pressured and the questions were not straightforward at the first glance. Here is how I would sum up about APM: it is about knowing the models and theories well, so that you can apply to scenarios. When the theories are applied, draw from your work experience, social knowledge, common sense will help(as mentioned by Ken in his lecture!). Every scenario is different but try to give it your best analysis of it. At the end, I felt that I have given all I could so no regret. And forget about it once the exam time is up and move on.
