    Mr. John

    Greetings From Lahore, Pakistan.

Could you please advise me on following points …..

It’s about 42 days left to the exam. Should I attempt F9 in upcoming March exam session?
Is the time too short or good enough for my first attempt of F9 ?
I am a part time student doing full time accountant job.
Should I rely on OT notes and lectures only.

    Thanks & Regards

It is really impossible for me to answer about whether or not you can be ready in time for March – it depends how much time you have available for studying (I know you are working, but I don’t know what other commitments you may have in the evenings or at weekends. It also depends on how easy or difficult you find the topics.

The OpenTuition notes and lectures cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well. However you do also need to buy a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers – they contain lots of exam standard questions to practice, and practice is absolutely vital if you are to pass the exam.

Thanks for your reply. I can spare 1-2 hours daily on studies due to my job and other commitments. I think as a part time student it would be difficult for me to get ready for the upcoming attempt.

Although I have started initial reading of OT notes which seems to be easy to understand so far. I have also attempted the quiz session relevant to OT notes and I got good score in that.

The only thing distracting me is the views and comments of my friends and peers that paper F9 is the most difficult one in ACCA qualification and they said for me time is too short to attempt in March Session.

In this scenario I have concluded on 2 options.

1 – Attempt The F9 in March Session.
    2 – Attempt F9 & P1 Both in June Session.

Looking for your best advise for above 2 options.

    Regards

    Haroon

Your friends are wrong to say that Paper F9 is the most difficult exam, for two reasons – firstly the P level exams are certainly harder, and secondly even within the F level exams different people find different exams easier or harder.

To pass the exam you need to watch all of the free lectures. There is no point at all in just using the lecture notes – they are lecture notes and you need to watch the free lectures. It is in the lectures that I explain and expand on the notes. If you are not watching the lectures for any reason then you need to buy a Study Text and study from here.

In addition you will only pass the exam if you practice and practice at exam standard questions. For this you must buy a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers and work through all of the questions.

There is no reason why you should not be able to do this in time for the March exams, but the only problem for me is that I obviously don’t know how easy or difficult you will find the topics – again, everyone is different.
