Hi
Does anybody recommend the LSBF books? I usually use BPP but have the opportunity to borrow the 2014 editions of the Study and Revision books for F9.
Can anyone give me advice on whether I should use these or order brand new BPP books?

I've had issues with LSBF books in the past, usually just bad print and typos but most frustratingly there have been occasions where the exercises have incorrect answers or poor explanation of how calculations have been done leaving you feeling like you've lost your mind. I would suggest if there is no downside to you borrowing the books, then go ahead. But read carefully lol!
Hi there
I really appreciate your feedback. The tutor said that syllabus wise these editions are ok so I picked up the F9 Study Text today (which I actually got given for free in the end).
However, I have decided to order the up to date BPP revision kit. I will be doing all of the Lectures on the OpenTuition site with notes but will use this LSBF study text alongside.
I will bear in mind what you have told me. When you had issues with incorrect answers how did you find out that it wasn't you going mad? Did you contact them directly? I'm guessing you were on a course with LSBF? As this will not be the case for myself.
Take BPP revision kit and open tuition lectures.Their materials are more close to exam format.
Ignore the LSBF F9 Study Text completely?
Hi Chloe,
Everyone have their favourite provider. I personally always use LSBF and have always passed. It all comes down to the ability to understand what you are reading and put it in to practice.
All of this said, we are all on the Open Tuition website.....so maybe they should take some of the credit too for all pass marks of students?
Hi there
I am glad to hear from someone that has had a positive experience with LSBF materials.
This is a good point that you are making and if I pass my F5 exam that I sat on 1st June I think that it will largely be down to the Open Tuition site and the help of John!
Good to hear that you have been passing your exams :)
Yes Chloe, I had to get in touch with my tutors, ask questions on the forums here etc. all of the things you would do normally when you self study. Looking back at my comment, I probably made it sound a lot worst than it is, as there weren't too many mistakes just enough for me to notice the issue.
@Grime Ok, thanks for the heads up so that I know not to expect perfection :)
If it isn't too bad I will give the books a try (haven't looked at them yet as I am still studying for F4 which I am sitting next week).
At least you were doing it right to know where they made mistakes!
