    Hi all,

    I am really struggling with linear Programming and it’s the area i’m struggling with the most in the entire PM syllabus.

    Below is the answer give in the kit, I do not understand how market/ demand equation is solved , any help is greatly appreciated.

    X- super petrol
    Y- regular petrol
    C-contribution

    Constraints:

    Heavy: 0.7x + 0.5y = 5000
    Light: 0.5x + 0.7y = 6000

    I understand how these two constraints are calculated but completely lost with the rest of the question:

    Firstly, can you tell me why the Market demand equation is written like this;
    X>_ 2/3 (x+y)
    and then rearranged to this;
    3x>_ 2x+2y
    Or x = >_2y (3)

    I also don’t understand how the market constraint is plotted on the graph.

    Can you help as I do kind of understand how the other constrains have been plotted

    I also do not understand how the objective function line (C = 0.25x + 0.10y) has been plotted and how its calculated

    Thanks!

    Kind Regards
    Robert

    Hi John

    I also don’t get why the Market condition constraint has been drawn in the opposite direction compared to the other lines

    Would appreciate your help on this too

    Robert

    You are going to have to tell me where to find the question because I cannot explain without seeing the whole question.

    Either tell me which past exam the question was asked in, or else tell me which question it is in the current edition of the BPP Revision Kit.

    As far as plotting constraints on the graph is concerned, then as I explain in my free lectures you cannot any longer be asked to draw the graph (although you are expected to understand it).

    Have you watched my lectures on this? The lectures are a complete free course for Paper PM and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.

    The question is called B Chemicals located in the Constructed response questions in my Kaplan revision book as I don’t use BPP with my learning provider. I’m guessing it will also be in the same book though ?

    Your lectures were excellent but it’s just these small analogies where I’m still struggling on.

    Sorry, but I do not have the Kaplan Exam Kit. I have checked the BPP Revision Kit and that does not have a question called ‘B Chemicals’.
