    can you please help me answer this question

    A company is intending to produce a new product. They have made two ‘test ‘ units. The first of them took 8 hours to make and the second took 6 hours. What is the learning rate?

    The average time per unit if we make 2 units is (8 + 6)/2 = 7 hours.

    So the learning rate is 7/8 = 87.5%

    Please, explain question from Mock exam:

    Company produce new product.
    1 unit – 25 hours.
    Learning rate- 75%
    How long will it take to produce 7 additional units?

    My solution:
    Y=25*7^(log (0.75)/ log 2) =11.15 hours per unit.
    Thereof, 11.15*7 = 78.04 hours!
    But the wright answer is another 🙁

    Yes – it is because your answer is wrong.

    If you have produced 1 unit and then produce another 7, then you will have produced 8 in total.
    The time for the next 7 is the total time for 8 less the time taken for the first.

    (And because it is 8 in total, you can use the doubling rule instead of the formula – however the answer will be the same.)

    You might find the free lecture on learning curves useful – I go through an almost identical example in the lecture.
